A friend (Lions fan) and I were debating about yesterday's games....We were debating on how the Minnesota Vikings struggled without Randy Moss and Scott Linehan...

My friend states that the Vikings are struggling because Randy Moss is now gone, regardless of Scott Linehan, and how much Culppeper needs Moss right now....Basically saying the Vikings reason for struggles come because Culppeper has no one to throw it too...

I told him I thought it was because Scott Linehan was not there anymore, regardless of Randy Moss, and how Scott Linehan made a huge difference in the way they ran their system and were able to put up lots of points in every game...I said that it seems Culppeper must not be familiar with a new system and is having trouble adjusting. I also pointed out on how we (Dolphins) managed to put up 27 offensive points without a Culpepper or a Randy Moss....

So what do you guys think???? You think Linehan has alot to do with it, or do you think it was really the absence of Randy Moss???

If the Vikings struggle he will be the head coach of Minny next season. Take it to the bank.

Linehan will be 1 and done in Miami. He is a hot assistant.

It's both....I think the fact that Linehan came to Miami really flew under the radar for all the writers who were making the Vikings a fave in the NFC.

Moss loss (rhyme) will definately be felt but coaching makes a big difference. NFL players have the ability to step it up and they will but players can't make a big difference without adequate coaching. See Dolphins for the past few years. Also Parcell's first year in Dallas was a huge improvement over the year before he got there. Having said that, it's only the first game of the season.

moss is one of, if not the most, dominant WR in the NFL. ill say he is more important than any offensive Co. but there isnt any real way to be sure.

Although I agree that it would be almost impossible to tell, The Raiders could still not beat the Patriots with Randy Moss.

Moss has been hurt and missed games and they have still had big offensive games. Last year they had a few without Moss.

Linehan is now gone and the offense was lost. They only ran the ball 15 times I believe. THAT IS PLAYCALLING!

If Chambers holds on to that 50 yard TD strike everyone is talking about how Linehan is making him into Randy Moss today. He had a moss-like day with that great run and several other catches. He is just lacking the big play catch. Forget the fumble, that was a fluke. He needs to grab that perfect toss by Guss.

In reference to your question its a easy answer...

Both are really missed, and that will IMO, be evidnet the rest of the year...

Last year without Moss for 3 games, they at least had 8 Offensive TDs (4 of them in their game against Green Bay)...

Yesterday, Miny did not make an Offensive TD (only TD by Defense)...

Miny's Offensive potential has been drastically alter and it showed...

Eh, they would have 1 more TD, and maybe 80-100 yards. That doesn't win them the game. Scott gets the plays in and moves the ball and Randy is the once or twice a game big play guy. They still need to move the ball in between his plays. It's not like Randy gets 5 TDs and 15 catches a game now guys.

neither has linehan...at least not yet

I doubt saban would bring Linehan in before discussing with him about his head coaches intentions for the future..I dont know if saban would bring him in without a guarantee that he would stay as our OC at least 2/3 years. I guess thats explained by one of the highest salaries in the league for an assistent, paid to linehan

The Dolphins success and the Vikings lack of success yesterday were both related to one thing - offensive line play. The Phins line stepped up, the Vikings line was awful and they really missed not having Birk as their center. It doesn't help that the Vikings hired an offensive line coach to be their OC and in addition he still coaches the OL. It doesn't really matter who is calling the plays or who is playing WR if your QB has no time.
