He pitched very well tonight, AJ. That slider will keep him in the majors for a long, long time if he stays healthy. The best things he did were throw strikes and change speeds. Anyone who does that will be successful.
I'm very excited to see both Scott Olsen and Randy Messenger up in the big leagues (Messenger has had 2 solid outings only pitched .1 innings tonight). We've got 2 other good prospects in Yorman Brazado (who was up earlier, but struggled) and Chris Resop (viewed as the team's closer of the future). I'm afaid two of the guys will be used as trade bait to get a pitcher like Fuentes(Rockies),Gordan/Quantril(Yanks), or even an OF like Adam Dunn or a former Marlin PFunk or Kotsay
Bazardo will be traded, and for good reason. Josh Johnson is a better prospect than Bazardo right now. He's got nasty, nasty stuff. We also have Jason Vargas, a second-rounder from 2004 who is already in AA and pitching well. In other words, we have enough depth that it's worth going for Fuentes, who's still young himself. Forget about Dunn or Kots, though, as great as it would be, the financial part wouldn't work out for Dunn and we wouldn't have any place to put Kots.
