Scott Wright's Updated Mock Draft (4/14)

1. Everette Brown, OLB, Florida St.
2a. Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina
2b. Sean Smith, CB, Utah
3. T.J. Lang, OL, Eastern Michigan

Not sure they'd even be at the spots, but if the draft went down like that, I'd be very happy!

I dont think there would be a single mad face in phin land if that happend.... But... the possibility of all those players being available there are extremely thin according to popular opinion.

If these guys really fell to us I would be amazed. Dont think they slide that far.

that would be an AMAZING draft....w/ 4 id go after a nt like scott or samie lee hill

wed be loaded

i dont think its that far fetched...i think nicks could easily slip to 2a

an olb is bound to fall to 25 be it cushing, matthews, e. brown, or maybin

smith at 56 is wishful thinking but not imposssible and there are other good cb prospects potentially there like alphonso smith or dj moore

That's pretty much right in line with the formula I would have for us in the first three rounds. A CB and OLB on Day One, and an OL on the first pick of Day Two.

BTW if we came out of Day One with Everette Brown, Hakeem Nicks and Sean Smith I would absolutely need to change my shorts.

Somebody always slides but a draft where we could get a top pass rusher a top WR and a top CB is just too unlikely. I don't see any way that Nicks gets out of the 1st round. And I think Sean Smith goes early in the second or even late 1st if a team thinks he will be a good CB with that kind of size.

I would have to go out and celebrate if we had a draft that looked like this.

To me it would be like getting the 2nd best pass rush threat, 2nd best WR, and 2nd best CB on the first day of the draft.

I have Crabtree as the top receiver but Nicks is my #2.
I have Michael Jenkins as the top corner but I have Sean Smith as my #2.
I have Aaron Maybin as the top pass rush threat but I have Everette Brown #2.

my jaw would drop if we got Brown,Nicks, and Smith in the first 2 rounds. As for Lang... I can get behind the pick as he would be an upgrade as a backup and could compete to start, but the first 3 rounds I'd like to see impact players.

x2

of the 3 picks, i'd say smith at 56 is the less likely to happen, followed by brown and then nicks

I really think the Dolphins will have their sights set on Cornelius Ingram, the Gators' TE. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Miami didn't take a WR until much later in the draft, and took a TE Ingram before a WR.

We need more red zone help in the passing game, absolutely. But, there's more than one way to skin a cat. Guys like Cornelius Ingram and David Martin have a lot of versatility and offer you a lot of things in the red zone. When Ingram got hurt, the Gators actually had to close off a lot of their playbook they had installed just for him. I saw with my own eyes in Spring Practice some of the nifty plays they had installed that involved Ingram throwing the ball and taking reverses.

Why go with some overstuffed WR who may not have the agility to play the position in normal situations, just so that you can get some more red zone proficiency? Might you have more luck with a Tight End that has the versatility to split out wide and match up on a cornerback or safety, but who can also block?

Between a giant WR and a flex TE, you're going to help with the red zone passing game. Which guy has the better chance of being able to fulfill the requirements of his position as a whole, though...a Ramses Barden/Patrick Turner? Or a Cornelius Ingram/Shawn Nelson?
