Scouting report on Damian Willaims coming out of college

From that film, what stands out are two things: Great hands, very good concentration. He also looks like he can do more than Gibson in terms of routes. But checking Rotoworld, I saw Hamstring injury, then a Quad injury which lingered. If he can stay healthy it's a great pickup, I think. If not, a non-factor then.

Do more than Gibson? Seriously?

Some of you will reach for anything on some of these signings.
Gibson when healthy is superior to this latest signing.

Sounds a lot like Bess from the report. Great hands, separation, route running. Good insurance at slot if Gibson isn't ready and could compete for punt return duties.

Agreed. Great hands and route running. Not a good jumper although devone was. Etc... Sounds like a solid addition.

Hopefully he's nothing like Dwayne Jarrett... Is he even in the league anymore

Did anyone imply that? Stop with the douchey ****ing attitude.

:bobdole: @ all this negative nonsense over a 5th receiver/ST-er.

No kidding. Never saw so much energy put into a 4th/5th receiver. It doesn't matter in the least if our 4th/5th receiver comes from the draft or from FA

See, man?

This is what I mean.

Rise above the crap. I think...THINK...you have valuable football knowledge. It seems that way. Just stop with the sudden snide comments.

You want us to draft a WR? Cool. I wouldn't complain. I can get on board with that. Just stop acting like everyone's opinion is so below yours that you have to be an ass about it.

I'm not envisioning that he becomes a team mainstay. But, this sounds like a solid move. Consider that Tannehill has ha very good chemistry with players who were good route runners. Hartline and Keller both excel in this area. They are where they are supposed to be exactly when they are supposed to be there and timed their separation to present Tannehill with a window in perfect timing. Gibson took a little while to get used to his slot routes, but as soon as he adjusted he was also in sync with Tannehill.

Williams sounds like a similar player who excels at route running and timing. While he may not offer the speed of Hartline or leaping ability of Gibson, it's always good to have depth. Both Keller and Gibson went down with major injuries last year, and Hartline had a health issue a couple of years ago that robbed him of the entire preseason. Depth is a real need.

Given that our offense seems to be extremely complex and is very difficult for new WR's to learn, why not have someone waiting in the wings who knows our system and whose strengths match up well with what our QB does well? Williams isn't so good that he will be pulled away by another team, so he will likely always be available if injuries do take their toll.

It may prove insignificant, but I do not see much of a down side.

Realizing that this is an incredibly deep draft for WR'S and we will very likely get a late round draft pick or UDFA to groom, it is nice to have a veteran primed and ready to step in if injuries hit.

One thing he does have is after the catch ability....something that is always welcomed in our type of offense.

I'm trying to figure out why you've taken upon yourself to put my "tone" in check. What I say is harmless compared to the constant trash talking on this site. It doesn't involve any name-calling or personal insults.

But I find the source of the lecturing about condescension strange given an exchange you had in the Nate Burleson thread:
You can debate which roster you rather all day long. Fine.

But get out of here with that "Johnny Football would be the savior for the Dolphins" crap.
You come across as a star gazer with comments like that and lose credibility.

Or how about your input on the should we draft a QB thread:

Oh jeez.

23 pages

Or the Phins failing in free agency thread:

This isn't even English, man.

Post less.

Yeah, that's replying to some serious stupidity. Like as in, threads that get moved to spam or the depths. It's tongue in cheek.

You, on the other hand, immediately rush in on your high horse to correct anyone who thinks this team may have made a marginally positive move. No one likes it.

So you determine what is stupid and what isn't and that validates your condescension? C'mon now. That's nothing but a hypocritical, self-serving excuse.

I appreciate your concern, but you don't have a leg to stand on. I knew what I would find when I reviewed your posts because I remembered you belittling people in the past. You're free to not like what I say all you want just like I don't like the generic "potential" stuff. You speak as if this franchise is owed my undying optimism for everything it does.

Nah. That's not at all what I'm implying. And I have made fun of posters. But that's when a wild person comes along with something assinine like, "let's trade up for Johnny Manziel." I mean, come on. That's dumb.

My beef with you is that we sign a guy like Damian Williams, who can not hurt this team in any way whatsoever, who's going to compete for the 5th WR spot, yet you jump on posters who may possibly be a fan of the move like it's your job to **** on all that is decent.

Is that guy going to bring us to the playoffs? Hell no. And the management of this team has been abysmal the last 10 years. I'm not a homer. But your posts get repetitive and lame. We know you think you're the **** because everyone else on the site is a blatant homer.

Get over yourself.

More condescension from the man complaining about condescension.

I haven't jumped all over anyone. For the sake of the thread, stop psycho-analyzing me and my intentions like it's your **** job. While I appreciate this rousing discussion, it has no relevance to the conversation about Damian Williams.

Nice deflection.

Those who are wrong always divert the conversation away from the main point.

..... and those who don't tolerate opinions which aren't in-line with their own try to derail the conversation by making it about the poster.

Let me know when you want to get back to discussing Damian Williams in a Damian Williams thread.

He clearly has in multiple responses, which you've chosen to ignore in your super defensiveness.
