Scouting reports: Okoye, Poz, Willis, Moses, Gaines, Staley

How about LT Joe Staley in the 2nd? I wouldn't mind that at all. Problem is,
he'll most likely be gone by then.

I like Willis, followed by Staley, followed by Poz as our options. Having had watched him play, and dissappear (at times) in games, I never really was able to get very excited about Quentin.

We need a long-term solution at NT to make the 3-4 work, and I don't think Okoye will project as a NT (at least not for several years). His upside is nearly unlimited, but he might be too raw to consider as a first-rounder. If he somehow slips to the second, it might be a no-brainer

Good points. I'm particularly interested in Staley, too. Truth be told, I wouldn't be shocked if we took him in the 1st in a possible trade down.

I think this guy definitly has potenial. I like most of what was written about him. Especially "motor doesnt stop". I hope he is avaible in the 2nd rd

Just wondering, who got it right on Jason Allen pick last draft. None of the draft experts got it remotely right, so I was wondering if any of the post here got it right?
Becuase it is almost impossible to predict past the 1st and 2nd pick, I never pay attention to all the pre draft hype it just seems like a big pile of bull**** to me. Whoever gets picked will be the guy and will take it from there.

I tend to disagree with one of the things the scout says about Willis' negatives. Gets overwhelmed by massive blockers? With the horrible play of Ole Miss' front four, it is surprising that that Willis led the SEC in tackles with 137. The next closest in the SEC had 110! He was third in the nation with over 7 solo tackles a game. Apparently, he does not get overwhelmed too often. He had 15 tackles against a very good Auburn team this year. Overwhelmed my butt. And I am not talking pure statistics here. The guy had virtually no help from an all-new front four.

And as far as his "durability concerns", the guy played with a broken middle finger, a partial AC joint separation, a knee sprain, and a mid-foot sprain and only missed a game. This was all in '05. This just goes to show Willis isn't a quitter. He also played for a very poor Ole Miss squad and never game up despite their win-loss record. He played lights out in '06 with no residual effects from those prior injuries. He also had no newer injuries. LBs get injured. It's the nature of their position. Hell, it's the nature of the sport! There are NO CONCERNS with his durability as far as I am concerned. Poster boy Poz is the one with the "durability" issues.

I'm glad Willis won the Butkus. He deserved it. And if he is still on the board by the time Miami picks, Miami better get him. He is not only one helluva player but a genuinely great person. He has had to overcome many things in his life. Whomever ends up choosing him will not be disappointed.

i think boomer said he would pick him and we did.

IF we got willis round 1, (im sad b/c he will be gone i believe) and Staley round 2, i would be soo damn happy!

How low do you think we would trade down?

Around the 20 region?

I'm not sure. If we could slide down and pick up a Joe Staley, Reggie Nelson,
or Lamar Woodley later in the 1st and get an extra 2nd or 3rd I'd be interested in that. I guess it just depends who's there when we pick.

If we held the 14th selection and taded down to 20th, according to the "trade value chart" we could get a 3rd, 4th and 6th round selction.

Although I dont know if any team would give up that many selections just to move up six places. Then again, if they're close to getting the man they want they might.

I'd say we'd get a 3rd and 4th.
