Isn't Jimmy Williams a corner for VT?

They must have messed up the school name. Thanks

jimmy williams is the best CB in the nation. big and physical, and an eye for the ball

Not sure what position DC is... typo for DE??

It stands for Defensive Corner, I don't know why they use that abbreviation.

Jimmy Williams is a huge CB, 6-3 206. He may be switched back to safety if he doesn't put up a decent 40 time at the combine & personal workouts. The same goes for Tennessee CB Jason Allen. Both are excellent tacklers that must showcase their speed. If they do they're definitely the type of players Saban loves.

Williams got owned by calvin johnson though, not a good advertisment for a top 10 selection in my book

a) he wasn't owned by any means
b) calvin johnson will be a top 10 pick himself in a year or two

I agree. They weren't matched up much of the day because Jimmy Williams plays VT's "boundary" corner, which is on the short side of the field to support the run on the outside, & Calvin Johnson lines up on the wide side of the field most of the time to work in space, but the few times they were matched up together Calvin Johnson made Williams look stupid.

Of Johnson's 5 catches, 123 yards & a TD, his #s when Williams were on him were 3 catches for 90 yards & a TD. On Johnson's first catch vs Williams, Williams was nowhere to be seen. He "thought" he saw something & left one of the country's best receivers wide open for a 20 yard reception. Beamer was yellin at em afterwards. On Johnson's second catch vs Jimmy he got him to bite on a double move, which brings into question Williams' recovery speed because he didn't recover. 59 yards later GT was in scoring position. And on the final catch, an 11 yard jump ball touchdown, Williams looked lost. Johnson only has an inch on Williams so it should have been a lot tougher. Williams never got turned.

b) calvin johnson will be a top 10 pick himself in a year or two

That can't be an excuse. You judge the best vs the best. Who cares if Jimmy can shut down Danny Melendez of Maryland. The WRs that Jimmy will face in the NFL are much better than Calvin Johnson. His stock went down today & I still question his speed.

the point is that i can give him an "off day" against a great receiver in johnson. since he's mostly been dominant the past year and a half, i'd have to see more from him to see his stock drop too much. and williams isn't going to stay with the fastest receivers, but he's physical enough to hang with the big guys, and he'd be great against a receiver like terrell owens. randy moss? marvin harrison? he's toast. bottomline, he'll probably be converted to safety at some point in his NFL career

I'm not sure I can give him an "off" day because he faced one of college football's best. That's a game you should be fired up & primed for, & he said he was before the game. Now if it were against Jesse Holley of UNC, I could give him an off day because it happens.

The rest of what you said I agree with.
