Perhaps it isn't all the crappy QB's.

Let's face it, folks, the offense has lots of problems.

* The oline is still coming together, which allows a whole lot of pressure to get through on passing plays.

* The wide receivers were ignored this off season, when they may have been the worst unit on the entire team last year, and were in the running for worst WR unit in the league last year. Thus, they struggle to get seperation, and we end up with a whole bunch of coverage sacks or throws into triple and quadruple coverage. The tight ends are nothing special, either, allowing the defense to play honest with a linebacker on them.

*This team isn't going to make its bones this season throwing the ball. If they are going to do anything on offense, it is going to have to be on the ground, no matter how often Sparano yells at the QBs to "play faster". Yelling on the board about signing another QB isn't going to change the reality that this offense is not going to be that good this season unless the oline run blocking gets good really soon.

*Oh, and one other thing. If we are going to have any long drives, the backs are going to have to stop dropping flare passes.

Scrimmage hasn't confirmed anything....this is their first action since last year.....relax, let's let things play out a bit.....we still have 4 preseason games to improve

Yea really. Defense sounds like it's coming along nicely. The offense needs time to gel a little bit. The time off will give the players an excellent time to R-E-L-A-X!!!

If we don't see considerable improvement in 2 week.. then we can get a real concern on.

I agree with most of this theory.
Except with our QB'S.

There's really no way for any f our QB'S to become solid or legit. I understand the rotation thing because none look stellar yet. I get that.

But since none of our QB'S will be the actual starter anyime soon, they will kepp splitting snaps and none will probbly be a quality starter out of the gate.

I hate to agree but this seems to be a neverending story with the Dolphins. We haven't had a quality passing attack since Don Shula retired. The main reason has been quarterback play, medicore receivers, and poor pass protection. I love the dolphins and I am ready for this story to end. I really hope this year is truly a NEW BEGINNING but it is not looking good right now.

Don't worry; parcells was hired t9 correct all the ills with the dolphins. It's been almost 2 decades since he has won a playoff game so this will be his chance to win a playoff game before 2 decades pass. So you can rest assured that he will be working hard to achieve this goal.

I'm sure it's not at all ideal but the fact of the matter is in a 90 play scrimmage we had only one turnover among the QBs, and several TDs. It's not great but it's a start. Nothing is going to be ideal in a new offensive install with so many young players.

i have been watching camp reports for YEARS and reading
all i can get like most, and i have to say this....

THE SACKS ARE COMING IN DROVES!!!

i have NEVER seen a camp where there has been so many
sacks in drills and scrimages.

all this "it takes time to gell, there young, it's this, it's that"
is played out. same tune for almost 10 years now!

with all the money we spent on a LT and the free agent
o-linemen, this is just UNACCEPTABLE!! i never expected
with the players we brought in and sparano and tuna that
we would be allowing so much pressure on the qb.

its WAY to much, even at this point.

just because we are "re-building" doesnt mean we have
to come out as a complete embarasment. the fins need to
fix this, even if it means bringing ina couple of "stop gaps"
like glenn and quincy carter. or PAY the money for someone
like LACHARLES BENTLY, shake it up! they should DEMAND
performance or they will bring in people who will.

NO ONE is expecting superbowl for the team, but this is a NEW
regime, one that THIS IS THE REAL DEAL attached to it.

so they dont need to sit on this squad and hand in a 2-4 win
season. the rats [fans] and players will be jumping ship right
away if tunas trifecta cant put out a decent team this year.

its in there hands. if some draft pic is not what they thought,
ADMIT IT and kepp turning over more of those stones they are
always talking about. if a freeagent isnt doing his job, there is
plenty more where they came from.

No kidding, we built the OL and DL throgh the draft. Next year we get a CB in round 1 and a WR and another CB in round 2 with the two picks we now have. Building a team takes a few drafts. Patience!

Well as fellow Dolphan I feel your pain but at the same time I am optimistic about this new regime... I was listening to WQAM... Coverage of the scrimmage and they talked to alot of guys about the camp and how players looked... I think it was Mark Higgs who said last year camp was like a pillow fight, this year it is a war... He commented about how the entire mentality had been changed and the tempo of practices.. How guys were afraid of losing their jobs and fighting for their lives...The mentality that you want IS SLOWLY being installed... Sorry but that does not change overnight.

The emphasis on sacks while maybe a cause for concern is in no way shape or form a cause for panic... There are MANY reasons for sacks not ALL attributed to the OL... I read an interview with Beck where he said he rarely has the chance to throw downfield and is constantly checking down receivers... That is a combination of Good DB play and poor WR play... You know what the FO thinks and soon I'm sure we will have Glenn in camp... Ricky is having a great camp, at least SOME of that has to be credited to getting into space provided by the OL... Also it has been said to death but the QB's are playing tentative and taking too long to make decisions... Again the front office is making moves, working out Quincy Carter... In each case the FO is doing exactly what you want them to... Identifying the problem and making moves to correct them...

Lastly I think you may have answered your own question... The fact is we have ALOT of cap space, LeCharles is sitting out there... AND? Nada... If the FO was worried... they have shown that they would make the moves necessary... panic if you want but nobody in the organization is.

I think they are putting the QB's in the worse possible situations with mass blitzing to make them think faster. Hopefully it pays off and they get use to the speed a little quicker. They are using the coverage sack timer to help with the pressure.

The thing i find weird is, they're all struggling, even McCown who is a vet and should be use to the speed more then Henne or Beck.

i agree, really not too bad for day 6 of camp. lots of terminology, new plalyers, coaches. they need time to absorb info and be comfortable with each other to be able to play with speed

MIAMI HERALD REPORT
Highlights include:
-McCown, despite leading 2 TD drives, threw one INT and another that should have been picked by Quentin Moses but was dropped
-No QB is winning the competition, but some believe Beck is "losing ground"
-Too many drops, especially by the backs
-Jake Long didn't allow any sacks

Well atleast our LT is coming along! :woot:

RELAX!!!!

We are all frustrated with the past, but remember we are talking 1 week of camp. CAMP! "With all the money we spent at LT" He is a rookie in his first week of camp in the NFL. Playing next to a guy that he never played with (Smiley) who by the way was a Right Guard last year. Defenses always start faster, it's easier to pick up. Once a starting QB is selected, it will be much easier for the offense to "gel." Also, it does not help that the coaching staff is mixing and matching. Right now they are observinng indivigual players to see what they have. Again, for lots of these players this is a new coaching staff, new offense. You have 2 QB's that have a total of 5 NFL starts.

I think we all feel the frustration, and none of us like reading any of the negative reports or blogs over the last couple of days. I'll admit I am disappointed with what I am reading about Beck. Look at some of the positives Hagan's hands sound greatly improved. Ricky looks awesome (though I haven't heard that much about Ricky over the last couple of days.) We may have selected our starting RG in the 6th Round. Our defense sounds like it is coming together nicely. This is going to be a long process. But we finally have a group that might actually know how to rebuild.

Tight end...upgrade imo

Running back...upgrade

oline...upgrade

receivers...upgrade

QB....idk.

were better on paper because a lot of the players here last year didnt want to be here...as long as we win two games and play with toughness and passion i can wait for this whole new culture to develope.
