There I said it. Philbin is not going to ever take us to the next level. He gets flustered and either calls a timeout or tries to read life on an index card.

He cant motivate players and they quit on him. 100% of this game is mental toughness. This league is full of great athletes that are just an edge away from winning or losing on any given Sunday.

Ross made a big Mistake announcing Philbin will stay. We shouldn't be looking at any Ex head coaches. They are gone for a reason. Go the route we found Dennis Hickey. Not a big name YET. Dan Quinn will

be the next great coach somewhere. Ross.......MAKE IT MIAMI. Dan Quinn. Remember I told you so.

So are you saying you want Ross to do the unmanly thing and go back on his word? That'd be a whole nother **** storm

Threads about who Ross should hire as our HC are pretty pointless since Ross has already retained Philbin for next season. You're going to have to accept that reality.

Can't believe you went there :sarcon:

I don't buy this. Owners in all sports give coaches a vote of confidence in season and change their mind after the season. Ross is asked while they have a game remaining if Philbin will be fired, what do yo suggest he says.

A "vote of confidence" entails a public statement of support for the job a coach is doing. Specifically making a formal announcement that a coach will return constitutes a done deal. It's a shame, and stoopid of Ross to jump the gun like that.. but sadly, at this point after all the fanfare, he'd look even more foolish contradicting himself and more stupid by confirming his judgement is impugnable if all it takes is one game to change his mind.

With the way the rules are slanted towards the offense in today's game, I would not want a defensive minded guy as a head coach. Hire an offensive guy who knows how to put the right defensive guy in place.

I think back to Joe Robbie. He would fire the coach or anyone on the team if it meant improvement. The bottom line is making money and putting a winning team on the field.
Ross is a man that makes decisions by consensus. His advisors have already told him what to do.
That is the root cause with this franchise.
Ross could still get rid of Philbin if he has any balls. Just call him in, tell him to quit or be fired, and pay him the balance of his contract. Philbin would leave either way.
Looking at our division, Kraft is similar to Robbie in the way he runs his team. Ross is a fool being lead by others.
