This means we need to sign peterson Quick.....give him what he wants Saban.....dont' let him talk with the seahawks, cause they have a boat load of money.

Saban will make the right choice. I'm sure he (Saban) wants him, but he won't over pay for him.

The draft has some pretty nice OLB if we do lose out on him.

Yes, but Walter Jones restructured meaning they are able to (and likely will) match.

Seahawks | Lose out on Hutchinson ruling
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 15:22:36 -0800
<A href="http://www.kffl.com/link/21">Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports "special master" Stephen Burbank ruled against the NFL Management Council and the Seattle Seahawks Monday, March 20, in their attempt to match the Minnesota Vikings' offer to OLG Steve Hutchinson under altered terms. The ruling means the Seahawks have until midnight Tuesday, March 21, to match the Vikings' offer to Hutchinson, or he will become a Viking.

I didnt say you were wrong, but this is a non-issue because they CAN match and not destroy their cap, now that Walter Jones restructured. Mort reported it on the 6 PM Sportscenter.

I wasn't saying you where wrong either.

I believe the Vikes offered Hutchinson something like 13 million for this year. That's quit a big hit for Seattle, also I believe since this ruling came down, Hutch will always have to be paid more than anybody on that o-line... Includung Walter Jones.

or do I have my facts wrong?

As far as I understand, Seattle has the cap room and is willing to match as long as the clause about him being the highest paid Olineman on the team wasnt an issue- and it isnt, due to the reworking of Jones' contract. So, if they do match, he techincally will be making more than Jones.

all they did was add an 8th year which is voidable to lower the average contract so that jones was under hutchinsons.

Precisely.

But Berthelsen said the decision validated the NFLPA's stance that the conditions at the time Hutchinson signed the offer sheet with the Vikings are the conditions Seattle must match -- meaning Hutchinson wasn't the highest-paid Seahawks linemen then, so Seattle must guarantee all $49 million of the Vikings' deal to match it.
not a chance in hell they will do this deal cause it will be guaranteed 49 million bucks.

he belongs to the vikings now.

Understood.

Well to bad for the Vikes then, they can't catch a break this off season. Although it does seem a little underhanded of the Hawks and Jones to do that. I wonder how Hutch feels about them doing that?

He probably doesn't care as long as he gets his $$$

wow, a guard getting paid more than the best LT in the NFL. that doesn't seem right.

No- Walter Jones reworked his deal, making Hutchinson the highest paid Olineman on the team, and making it an easy deal to match for the Seahawks.

Apparently, he badly wanted out of Seattle and there could be some trouble along the left side of that line, as he may be somewhat annoyed that Jones reworked this deal forcing him to remain in a situation he didnt want to be in.

the vikings are the ones that put that in the deal, meaning hawks had no way of matching so they win and get hutchinson.

underhanded...nope. not at all. the deal has 16 million of guarentees in it. the hawks tried to bypass that cluase but failed.

All $49 mill including the $13 (or something along these lines) mill this year?
