Shaun Alexander scored three times for Seattle, but few people know that the Seahawks were kind of dangling him around the league this summer. They definitely called the Dolphins. There are some people in the organization who feel that Alexander, in the final year of his contract, isn't nearly as good as the leaguewide perception of him.

Edited for fixed link

haha i feel the same way, i really dont think hes as good as people make him out to be, but hey he gets the stats to prove me wrong, but when i watch him i dont like him, i remember watching him last year and he wouldn't break 1 tackle, hed get hit and fall immediately, it was like watching the ron dayne of 2 years ago...

but thats just me, i dont konw, as we are now id rather have gordon than him, call me crazy but its true

The link doesn't work for me.

Does it suggest what price they wanted?

I have gotten the distinct impression that Holmgren wants to move on to Maurice Morris next year for about a year and a half now. That is exactly why I said that I thought Alexander would be available next year when we were talking about finding a guy in the offseason.

He is the best "old-school" running back in the league. Is he Preist, Marshall, LT where he will also get you 60-100 receptions and improve your passing game? NO. But will he run for 1500+ yards and give you the opportunity to grind it out between the tackles....YES! He is a workhorse on all levels.

IF we turned him down (and the asking price must have been outrageous like a 1st and a 2nd or two #1's) there had to be a reason. He is a top player in this league.

Alexander is very good, and scores TD all the time. It would have cost a lot to get him. Plus the Seahawks would have been crazy to do this point blank!

This is bogus...

There is no way in hell the seahawks would offer Alexander. He's one of the best backs in the NFL, he's young, and he's only tapped the surface of what he's capable of....

NO WAY IN HELL THEY OFFERED US ALEXANDER!!!!!

PHINZ RULE!!

Final year of his contract as is Hassleback. They won't be able to sign both, and Alexander will be gone at the end of the season anyway.

Keep in mind hes in the last year of his contract. If the Seahwaks dont feel hes worth big buck at seasons end (and he will ask for Portis money), then why not try and trade him now and get some high picks/players in return?

I guess its all moot now, as he sprained his knee yesterday and is allegedly out for at least two weeks.

That doesn't mean anything....

In fact, it makes this offer sound even more bogus than before. Alexander, playing in a contract year???? That equals huge dividends for Seattle "this year". No way in hell this was a legit offer IMO....

It means everything. Get something in return for a guy who is leaving anyway instead of losing someone and getting nothing. Plus, the Seattle back-up Morris is highly regarded and could start for most teams.

It means everthing. Get something for a guy who is leaving anyway after the year. Especially when the back-up Morris is highly regarded in the league and is more than capable according to the seattle coaches.

It makes perfect sense. Much like why we traded O-Gun........cause if we kept him around he would have left NEXT year and Miami would have got NOTHING for him.

Its hard for me to believe this story.Alexander is a stud hoss and IMO is one of the premier RBs in the league. If he was offered the the Dolphins I wonder what the asking price was?

I thought Hasselbeck recently signed an extension?
