Dave Williams Is A Good Young Pitcher Which Im Sure If Your A Reds Fan You Would Kno U Need. WOW IM A PIRATES FAN SO SORRY FP GOING OFF

um not really, thats y he only had liek 9 Hrs last year. He is a solid hitter, Shouldnt have a .321 avergae cuz he won't have Dunn to proect him this year. I say like .310. But he is also a very good defensive guy and that is good for the pirate swith their young infield
 
Casey's an expensive stiff, and Williams is a decent, but hardly spectacular, young pitcher. But he's also cheap. The Pirates got ripped off. Why do they keep spending their limited resources on overpriced veterans?

Casey has no speed and no power. On a good team he is fine. On a team like Cincy or Pitt....he is a nobody
 
he is gonna provide good defense for that young pirates IF though. i don't agree with it though cuz they don't need an other singles and doubles hitter. they need a power guy because they realy have no one for power at all, and havent since Giles and Ramirez left

Yeah, cuz first basemen need worlds of speed :shakeno:
He's a solid hitter with solid defensive skills and solid character. Good pickup for the Bucs

ya he can teach the yougn guys some stuff, also its not liek they gave up Zach Duke, Dave Williams is just an OK young pitcher that might develop into a solid 3rd Starter
 
I feel real sorry for Sean Casey. I don't know him personally but in every interview I've seen him in he seems like the kind of guy you want on your team. It's ashame but nice guys finish last!

Somehow, these positive traits add up to being worth $8 million a year? Not to mention giving up a decent, young and cheap pitcher?

He's a first baseman who had a .423 slugging percentage last year despite playing half his games in the most hitter-friendly park in baseball. If you think that's a fluke, he had slugging percentages of .362 and .408 in 2002 and 2003. He was good in 2004 (.534), but I'm almost certain those numbers would make him one of the two or three worst power-hitting regular first baseman in baseball over the last four years. (Hmm, plate patience, can't hit for power, nice guy with that all important "locker room leader" tag, plays defense....you could argue the Bucs just traded for a more expensive version of Doug Mientkiewicz.)

What, precisely, is he going to teach the young guys apart from how NOT to hit for power?

This is a horrible move for Pittsburgh. Terrible. They simply do not have the payroll to collect stiffs like this, yet they do it every year, with guys like Raul Mondesi and Derek Bell before that.

i think the same way it sucks. Look at these 3 players they brought in the past couple years david bell, raul mondasi(sp), matt lawton. lawton was alright there but the other 2 sucked
 
Casey is underrated as a player but overvalued with that contract.
