Why do we have to wait 60 seconds in between searches? The harder it is to search, the more likely I am to just give up and post a topic that may already be posted. I just don't see the point in making it harder to do. Is it a form of spam guard (I am a webnovice)? Just curious.

I'm going to hazard a guess, although I don't know for sure...I think it's to limit demand on the server, especially in busy times. Like the 30-second limit on posts.

Maybe an admin can give us the real scoop.

That's pretty much the reason. Searches put a huge load on the database, and queuing up multiple searches in a row is a somewhat resource intensive task.
