1. Seattle looks like our main competition for JP (well, and re-signing with San Francisco), so it looks like they ultimately wont have the cap room.

2. After investing their money here, likely wont have the cash for John Abraham who will likely be dealt to the Falcons for their 1st round pick. If so, it is great for the Dolphins, as Atlanta would have likely taken the best available DB at that spot (one ahead of us). Increases our chances of landing an impact DB.

There are?

No but seriously, you are missing the point, it is basically one less team that was almost certainly going to go DB, thus we increase our chances of landing a better DB.

2. Do you mean in addition to Will Allen whom we signed today?

Absolutely. I still wouldnt be surprised to see us draft Jimmy Williams in Rd.1, or Cromartie or Ko Simpson. Its much less of a certainty with the signing of Will Allen, and it leaves our options open, but they could be the choice. I personally would prefer addressing it in R3, and drafting BPA in Rd. 1 (Bunkley? Justice? Holmes? Greenway?)

excellent point....i didnt think of that at first.

This is good news as long as nobody else steps up to the plate for Peterson. We also have the advantage of having Saban. This could happen for us...

PHINZ RULE!!!

1) I know that the Cowboys are rumored as well........he'll hardly have trouble finding a good deal.

2) Atlanta has not stepped up to offering their 1st rounder and haven't given any indication that they plan to.........if anything it only helps the Dolphins because it potentially hurts the Jets, as they are down one more suitor and the compensation likely went down a little, not up.

Atlanta, if they deal their 1st rounder for Abraham, is one less team that will likely take a DB in Rd. 1 before we have a chance to pick. And, their chances of acquiring Abraham have increased as Seattle could very well lack the cap space now that they have matched Hutchinson's offer.

1. Well, he has lasted this long on the open-market and has visited only Seattle and now us.

2. They likely will- he wants to be there. They're just playing hardball.

1) Just because those are the only visits he has already made, don't think they are the only ones he's gonna make....I heard today that he is scheduled to meet with the Cowboys this week.

2) It doesn't matter if he wants to be there, the Falcons don't want to give up a first rounder for him.....and now that they are basically bidding against themselves for him, there is absolutely no reason for them to raise their offer. The Jets are the ones who are screwed in this scenario.
