The Seahawks made their first addition of free agency on Saturday morning, agreeing to terms on a one-year deal with defensive lineman Jason Jones of the Tennessee Titans.
That didn't answer the question of quarterback, though, as Green Bay quarterback Matt Flynn left Seattle on Friday evening after visiting with the Seahawks and arrived in Miami.
That's not a shocker. Flynn had always planned to visit the Dolphins before making a decision on his future, but the fact he's in South Florida certainly reduces the chances he will wind up in the Pacific Northwest.
Miami is feeling plenty of pressure right about now. The Dolphins have been turned down by Peyton Manning, they've got an aggressive owner in Stephen Ross who wants to generate some buzz, and they've got a new coach in Joe Philbin who worked with Flynn the past four years as Green Bay's offensive coordinator.
The bottom line is Miami appears positioned to make a bigger, better offer to Flynn than Seattle. The Seahawks seem to see Flynn more as a quarterback with potential who could compete with Tarvaris Jackson as opposed to someone who would be installed as the franchise quarterback on day one.

so i guess we are not going to offer him the market value for a guy who has thrown under 10 tds and less than 1000 yds in 4 seasons?

I do find it interesting that only Seattle is competing with miami for flynn.. also that seattle wants him to compete with tavaris jackson for the starting job. Thats not saying much at all. Matt Moore is better than Jackson too.

Coming from a franchise that traded for 3rd string QB Charlie Whitehurst by swapping 2nd round draft picks and giving up a 3rd rounder to San Diego so that he could take over for Hasselbeck. Then they sign Tavaris Jackson and never give Charlie Whitehurst a chance and Whitehurst became a free agent this year and went back and signed with San Diego. It's almost as bad as the 3rd round pick Minnesota gave up to get Randy Moss for two games even though they had no chance at the playoffs.

I agree but wouldn't it make at least a team like Cleveland or some other team that wants to improve on QB to be interested? Good points you make but still scary that a team that goes all out to get crappy QBs is barely sold on this one.

Everyone is trying to figure out what Flynn will be. What all of you hae to really worry about is will he win games. If not then bring the next guy. Everyone acts like a "source" that knowns what is going on.

Flynn might be the next A.J. Feely or he might be the next Matt Schaub either way if we sign him we are taking a chance,

Cleveland not being interested in Flynn gives a pretty clear indication to me of who they are drafting.
