I think it's time to start realizing just how much this guy means to this team, especially the defense. And I think a lot of what he brings is on the intangible side.

agreed....hopefully these past 2weeks his recovery has gone well and hell be ready for the saints.

I disagree. Putting weight on Seau is a bad idea. He is at the very end of his career. He should be "adding to" the defense. You can't depend on him to hold up for 16 games. He makes great plays when he can play, but he can't play every week. Crowder needs to continue to develop. Another young LB would help out greatly.

Whether or not you want to emphasize Seau's role in the future, I think we have to realize how much he means to the team NOW.

I think he needs to come back and show Crowder the ins and outs of the position and how not to overpursue and how to better diagnose plays. Crowder has great instincts and ability but is a little raw at the moment to be out on the field as much as he is IMO.

Seau ias a pure leaders and despite being old is a great linebacker. Whenever hes on the field he changes the game and makes plays. Seau come back.

so what, the D gives up 150 yards rushing rather than 180? Right now, with Seau at the very end of his career (with this year the last most likely) his leadership is not going to win a game. Hes not the playmaker he was. His age is certainly catching up with him, with a calf strain keeping him out of 2 games?

He's not going to make the difference you think he will. He wouldn't be much of an upgrade to Spragan in terms of actual play..

Actual play nothing -- we've gone from having no 100-yard rushing games against us to having two in a row (150 and 180) while he's been out. He brings something -- whether it's actual play or intangibles, it's SOMEthing.

I agree that Seau brings something. But you can't depend on it every game.

Seau is a great player and leader but he is on the downside of his career. Once again it's the scenario where the player is more on the bench than on the field. You're not going to pay to have someone sitting on the bench. It's a shame but those are just the plain and simple facts!!
