I dont really want to pick on someone on our D since they played well until the final drive, but this thing really bugs me. Did anyone else see seau's blitzes? Everytime he would run up to the line try to anticipate the snap, then when the ball is snapped he would run right into the middle of the line and the center would pick him up since he was expecting him. He never seemed to try blitzing from his normal LB spot or coming in from the side. One time he even threw himself into two linemen and then fell down. Maybe he was trying to free up our D-linemen for sacks. Isnt the point of blitzing an LB so that he can get a sack? Did he do this in San Diego? Is this designed or is Seau improvising like he is known too?

You answered your own question.

The guy is busting his a$$ to help the defense and you critize him for it. It is by design.

I wasnt really trying to criticize him I just have never seen us do this blitz so much. It seemed pretty ineffective. In fact on that play to chad johnson that setup the FG both Seau and thomas blitzed and palmer still had plenty of time. Thomas pulled away at the last second though.

He did make some plays behind the line of scrimmage so it must be working some of the time.

He does need to work on his timing though. Many times you see him run full speed up to the line only to have to hit the brakes because of a hard count or something. The linemen pick him up and he really takes himself out of the play. I think he owul dbe much more effective trying to get to the QB and let the DT's take on the blockers, afterall, Seau is much faster trying to chase down a QB than our big boys upfront.

However, I can't rag on him too much, The Defense played great, not giving up a touchdown and keeping us in it long enough to tie it up. Too bad they got tired at the end.

Seemed like the Seau blitzes were less effective in the 4th, maybe due to him gettin a bit tired, or the oline making adjustments either way in the 4th it didnt seem to be workin too well.
