Ohio State has been the best team in college football all year long, and more than likely will be the #1 team in college football on January 9th.

I just don't think that hurts the strength of the SEC. Now, what could hurt the SEC is their Bowl record. There is no doubt there are some tough match-ups for the SEC, especially early.

Joe Kines will take coachless Alabama into the Independence Bowl against Okie State. While Kentucky looks completely overmatched against Clemson.

The biggest game for the conference? Its not Floria/OSU. I think the rep of the SEC hinges on Arky and Wisky. Could be the difference between going 5-3 or 4-4.

I'm leaning towards going with a 5-3 post season for the SEC. But is that good enough to be the best conference in the land?

Bowl games don't really prove anything, you never know which teams show up motivated and which ones don't care anymore.

they all show up motivated. You give college kids 1 month off and they forget a lot of what happened.

I don't buy that at all.
Most of the bowl games are meaningless, and many have teams whose goal was to make a BCS bowl by winning their conference. A month off just as easily breeds contempt.

meaningless to you!!!

But take a college kid on vacation for a week to a city they have never been to before, feed them A+ food all week, put them in a nice NFL stadium they probably haven't seen before, and they get pumped up!!!

That might not seem like a big deal to most, take a 19 or 20 year old kid and take them on the road and treat them like a king for a week and yeah they get excited!

That sounds great, but I still don't buy it. We have all seen so many teams come out completely flat in these games. It happens all the time with kids from schools like I said before. Your scenario works out well for the Ruters' and Nevada's of the world. But, for the Tennessee's and Miami's and FSU's, they exepct more.

So you're telling me Univ. of Miami was pumped up and motivated last year?

You can't tell me that a guy that has given his blood, sweat, and tears to a program for 4 or 5 years -- a program that he has dreamed of played for his entire life -- you can't tell me, that in that kids final game with that school EVER, he's going to turn up just for a free meal.

You guys can say whatever emotional, heart warming stuff you want to, but if you actually watch the bowl games year in and year out you'll notice that many teams simply don't show up to play.

SEC Predictions (I think that was the name of this thread?):

Oklahoma State over Alabama- No Coach, No Win.

Gators over Ohio State- Okay, it's just because I want Ohio State to get beat.

Arkansas easily over Wisconsin- Being 3rd best to Michigan and OSU doesn't make you a good team. Being second in the SEC, now that's a different story.

Virginia Tech over Georgia- If the Georgia team that beat Auburn shows up, then Georgia wins.

Auburn over Nebraska

Kentucky over Clemson- Kentucky has 4 players on the All SEC Freshman team, they are in the right direction and they are playing good football. Minus a total screw up on the 3 yard line against TN, they are second in the Eastern Divsion to the Gators. Compare these teams losses, I don't see them as "over matched." Then again, I live in Kentucky.

South Carolina over Houston

LSU over Notre Dame

Tennessee over Penn State

I'm surprised the SEC can even field teams at the end of of the year....I mean with that brutal in conference schedule and all. It's a conference full of gladiators and warriors that make all other conferences seem like pee wee leagues. I just don't know how they have enough healthy players.
