Our 2 biggest holes in the '05 campaigne are very evident. It is our QB and defensive secondary that needs to be improved. Now we've herd about every name working in the NFL thrown out there for possible QBs but i have another question....

What direction do we take at the corner spots and safty spots. Last year it was Madison and Howard at the corners and Shulters and Tillman. IMO the only one of those guys that has a shot at starting next year is Shulters. He showed good veteran leadership and made big plays when we needed them. We all know Howard is gone and it's likely Madison is gone as well.

This opens some big holes at CB that must be filled. Now I've herd several names thrown around like Nate Clements, Jerry Azumah(sp?), R.W McQuarters, Charles Woodson among others.

I really hope one of these guys is signed here next year preferably Clements. To go with him draaft a rookie and i think move Poole in next year. Move Daniels to safety and i think that would make this secondary much better.

Where do you guys think Saban goes with this issue? What do you hope he does?

I'm sure Saban will bring somebody in, but it may not be the any of those high priced free agents. He still needs to see where Poole is in his development after his injury. Yeremiah Bell's play at the end of the season will surely lead to Jones being bounced. Also, there's Shirdonya Mitchell. I think one corner comes in to man the outside opposite pool, and Daniels will move to the inside. Also Saban could take Huff with our 1st pick.

Yea i forgot to metion Law. I would love to see him here. Ive herd he has expressed interest in coming to Miami. That would be awesome

It would be nice to get Clements, and Archuleta (spelling safety for the Rams), plus draft a rookie.

Clements, Poole, Daniels, Mitchelle, Shulters, Archuleta, Bell, Tillman/Jones, Rookie NICE

I don't think Saban will try to sign a big name, big money star. Poole was awesome when he was healthy. Hopefully, he'll return to his same form before the injury. If we get another solid free agent, it'll be someone who could stick around for a while. Clements is a nice pick up if he's not TOO expensive. A day one draft pick is possible as well.

I don't want Clements (no matter how good he can be) or any other potential ex-Jill, Paper Plane or Rat in our team, period (and any REAL Dol-fan would agree with me).

I would like to know why most of the guys in this forum doesn't realize that one of the biggest concerns in our team is the O-line, it helped the most to give us a penalty new record for the franchise, lots of false starts and holdings. I know we don't have the best secondary if the league, but they made good enough coverage to give our D-line time enough to give us a 49 sacks (franchise tie-record, only behind Seattle with 50). Of course Madison and Howard are definitely out of this team for next season and Jones will likely go with them too, but Saban will have no problem to fill those spots with non-too expensive FA's and maybe a rookie to develop, but not a 1st rounder. He will use top picks to rebuild our really bad O-line for sure and the good young QB we need.

Who cares where he used to play. If he becomes a Dolphin, he is a Dolphin. Any REAL fan would want to upgrade our team and make it better no matter where he came from. :shakeno:
Yes we need O-line help and Saban will go out and get it through the draft and/or free agency. Our secondary is a GLARING weakness and it's about to lose a Madison as well. The secondary will be a priority in the off-season. I'm also confident that the secondary will be addressed before Saban even thinks about over-spending on a QB out of desperation to get one.

That's what worries me. You're right to show concern about how he'll come back. Poole was relatively inexperienced before he was injured. Now he has to come back from a pretty serious injury and play well for us. The problem is, the coaching staff won't be able to see him perform until after free-agency and the draft. I can't see them waiting around to see how Poole's injury has heeled and how effective he will be. I think we grab another corner or maybe even two. One in the draft and one in free agency.

It is unlikely that we will sign any high price CB ...

The odds of that IMPROVE IF Sam is released -

This is only because we have no insurance against Poole or Mitchell not being ready to go - that and Mitchell has never played an NFL down. Thus, IF Sam is released - there are big questions about our starting and depth at CB.

I believe it is more important to have a good S than a good CB at this point. Just like in baseball - be solid up the middle. DTs, LBs and Ss .... sound familiar - that's how the PATs do it and how we will as well ...

So, if we spend money on value - it would be on QB, LB, S ... the same priorities of our draft. Then add in 1 OL [preferebly a C, then T]
