If we want to be a perenial playoff team, we need a top 10 QB. No other way will get us there. IF Tannehill is the guy that Ireland believes is the guy, draft him at the 1.08. I don't think you need to move up to get him. IF he's not, trade down, get another 1st next year, let this year play out and see if Moore can take the next step. If he doesn't, then we have 2 1st, and 2nd, and 2 3rds next year to move up...If we even need to move up, to get our Top 10 QB.

I agree. You can rationalize things six ways to Sunday, but the bottom line is what does our team brass think of Tannehill. If they like him, get him. If not, then I think it would be awesome to trade our pick to like the Browns or someone for their 1st rounder next year, then package both of our 2013 firsts to try to get Barkley in the following draft. Matt Moore is good enough to hold us over.

Good post. We must realize that football goes beyond 2012 and we can't go for any QB just because we want one now. We go for him only if the brass thinks he is the right guy.

We will know tonight.
Is Tannehill the 8th best player in this draft? Not even close.

The more I listen to these guys talk today on the NFL network the more scare I get of taking him at 8.....if we take him at 8 you'd think he'll be ready to start this year.....not be great this year but start......at this point they're saying they don't think he'll be ready to start.....I'm not a fan of Ireland at this point but he doesn't have it easy right now and I don't envy him, he's got a hugh desicion to make here if Tannehill is there at 8....does he take him or does he trade down and still take him if he's still there or does he not take him at any point......but please JI, if you don't take a QB at 8, do not go o-line or safety at 8.

Ozzy rules!!

obviously mike sherman has to have the deciding vote as his career would be on the line, along with whole front office...this guy knows more about tannehill than ANYONE ELSE on the planet...if he thinks hes good enough and hes there then draft him, and say to people flat out I KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS KID THAN ANYONE...

Getting Barkley next year will be no easier than getting Luck this year. In other words you better finish last because NO ONE is trading out of that spot and abandoning a franchise QB. Even for 2 1sts.

Getting Landry Jones next year will be HARDER than getting those picks was that Wash. got to take the bust they are about to draft.

Who else is there? Tyler Wilson (Arkansas ???) or Tyler Bray (Character Issues)

We need to do QB NOW and worry about next year... next year. We are getting deeper into the forest of QB development with every year we kick the can forward.

Every year it is the same song and dance. We need to draft an elite quarterback to build a team around and we almost always end up outside of the top picks needed to draft one. But almost every team in the NFL deals with this. If the NFL rules were different, more teams could be contenders because they wouldn't need an elite QB. NFL is the opposite of NBA in that in the NBA we know there are a few true prototypical centers (i.e. Dwight Howard). Therefore teams don't hope and pray for elite center. They build the team with that in mind. Unfortunately in the NFL, teams don't have a choice, given the pass happy league rules.

If the FO doesn't think Tannehill's the guy, move back, pick up an extra 2nd and then take Weeden later in round 1 then grab your pass rusher and a receiver with your 2 - 2nds and then take another receiver and OT with your 2 - 3rds. After that it's just filling in the roster. Bodda boom, bodda bing.

Tannehill is not even top 10 talent this year...if we are stuck at #8 you go BPA regardless....

I think the Phins will more likely draft Tannehill if they are able to trade down....if they stay put, I have a feeling they are going to second guess drafting Tannehill...

And personally I am one of those that do not want Tannehill...Im all for trading down, but I dont want to draft Tannehill

Let's see, Leaf, Couch, Russell, Akilli,(sp), Joey, etc, etc...Nah...doesn't equate to perenail playoff team.. you have to get the right QB..Tannehill imho isn't a top 10, a top 25-50 maybe...you guys just want to draft a 2nd round pick in the first and think that will fix our qb problem..might as well kept Henne..just because you draft him in the 1st rd, doesn't make him 1st rd quality..just another over draft ryan leaf.

Want to find right QB. Use shotgun to kill fish. Stock up on alot of 1st and 2nd picks somehow for each year and fire away taking QBs each year. Unfortuneately, our gms can't even hit the broad side of a barn with beck, feely, culpeeper, henne, and pat white. Sick and sad to even think about it

Now with that said, I ask you should the Dolphins take that chance on Tannehill with that draft record and poor luck
