Ok so with everything that's happened so far in FA it seems to be that without sayin it the Dolphins are in a complete rebuild. Letting young talent walk to save money and bring in the older cheaper players with short contracts. Seems like they are just stop gaps for the next couple years of drafting where they can be replaced. I couldn't figure out what they were doing with the owner talking about a playoff time line of 3 years and talk about this years team being better than last years. Whelp at least that's what it seems to me. Stop gaps til they can be replaced with draft talent. Agree?!

Yeah maybe we are actually going to take are time and try to re build the right way. I don't think we are in win now mode. Feels like we are saying hey in 2 to 3 years we wanna be a powerhouse for years to come. Not a bad idea really nothing else has worked for us it's just hard to be patient right now and who's to say it's even gonna work. But yes to me it's clear we are in a slow 3-5 year complete rebuild, building through the draft and not overpaying.

Who exactly did we get thats a stop gap? Williams? I guess but pass rushers are playing longer in todays nfl i can see him be effective for both his years in miami. Maxwell is young, quddus is young, kiko is real young. Will they workout? I dont know but they are young players with a lot of potential

all i hope for is the the FO dont $hit the bed this year and we have to go through another lack luster year again.

We are in full re-build mode. Just nobody is acknowledging it. The roster will be almost completely different in 2017. Could be fewer than a dozen players left over from the team that finished 2015. That's definitive change. Maybe it was needed, but it's kind of scary that T-baum is going to mastermind that.

Money Ball was on TV the other day and it kind of reminds me of what they did in the movie. Probably a lot of analytics involved this offseason.

old ones at that

wouldnt mind old, cheap stopgaps if we were building for the future from the ground up... but we paid Suh bazillions just a year ago and we are trading top picks for injured players and huge contracts

It's actually the right approach. The question is, can we draft well enough to make the plan work. We are building for the future while at the same time trying to stay somewhat competitive. Not a bad strategy.

How can Miami do anything else? They have hinged their franchise on two players with ginormous deals. It is clear that this was a mistake, as well as the prior free agent championships.
They can't spend their way out of this mess.

Building for the future also give Gase plenty of time to work with Tannehill and create his own evaluation if RT is Gase's QB or not

It is up to the Coaching Staff...

FA finds depth and fills Gaps while the Draft adds the major Talent. We just need to get into the habit of developing that talent and then extending our own talent before other teams have a chance to pay too much for them...

Its going to take 2 drafts for this team to look different but Caching in game one will tell us if we will be successful down the road with the turn around in philosophy.

Miami must take a flier at qb in the draft this year. They owe to themselves incase RT doesn't work out

which two players would that be?

Ok yea Williams. Also the two OL guys we picked up and as for maxwell yea he's young but only on a 2 year contract so not much commitment and can be replaced with draft talent. Also with Alonzo, he's a one year try out and very cheap! All I'm saying is that we picked up a bunch of short term contracts which typically come with older players and if those older or younger players don't workout while they are filling the holes we have the Dolphins can easily move on for cheap. Even the decision to keep Wake. Two years he'll probably be gone and we will have drafted a new DE.

Paying all that money to keep OV and Miller doesn't make sense of they are completely rebuilding. That's all I can figure...
