Seems Atlanta is very interested in Shane Ray.

Tossing aside tradition, Senior Bowl weigh-ins and initial practices get underway today, Tuesday the 20th. Here is the latest word circulating around the event this morning.

- To expand on my earlier tweet about the Atlanta Falcons liking Shane Ray/DE/Missouri, of course much will depend on the potential hire of Dan Quinn. Sources close to the situation tell me Quinn is a stickler for arm length so Ray’s measurements, hand and arm, could play a big factor.

- Sources here in Mobile tell me Cedric Ogbuehi/T/Texas A&M hurt his knee during the season and the tear he suffered during the teams bowl game was actually the cherry on the whip cream.

- Senior Bowl director Phil Savage came down pretty hard on six players who seemed to lollygag on not accepting invitations to the week. One of the biggest head scratches was Corey Crawford/DE/Clemson who grades as a late round pick and should’ve jumped at the opportunity take part in the Senior Bowl.

North weigh-ins will be first.

Homewood native Ameer Abdullah of Nebraska measures a 5-foot-8.2, 198 pounds. He was listed at 5-9, 195 on pre-game roster.

Florida OL Trent Brown checks in at 6-8.4, 376 pounds. He was 6-8, 350 on roster.

East Carolina QB Shane Carden is 6-0.6, 218 pounds. He was 6-2 on roster.

Florida center Max Garcia might win the accuracy award. Checks in at 6-4, 305. Listed at 6-4, 307.

East Carolina wide receiver Justin Hardy listed at 6-foot, but checks in today at 5-10.4.

Oregon State QB Sean Mannion checks in at 6-05.4, 229. The prototype.

Baylor QB Bryce Petty is 6-02.6, 230, almost exactly as listed.

Ohio State WR Devin Smith is 6-0.3, 190. Listed at 6-1, 200.

Kentucky DL Za'Darius Smith of Greenville checks in at 6-4.5, 270. Listed at 6-6, 263.

North weigh-ins done. Ten-minute break before South starts.

Auburn RB Cameron Artis-Payne checks in at 5-09.5, 212. Listed at 5-10, 210.

Auburn WR Sammie Coates checks in at 6-0.6, 213. Listed at 6-2, 201.

LSU OL La'El Collins is 6-4.5, 308. Kinda light for an OT. Was listed at 321.

Auburn center Reese Dismukes is 6-2.7, 297. Listed at 6-3, 296. Pretty close.

Arkansas DE Trey Flowers of Huntsville is 6-2.2, 268. Listed at 6-3, 270.

Alabama RB Jalston Fowler is 5-11, 264. Listed at 6-0, 248. Big difference in weight.

Ole Miss DB Senquez Golson is 5-8.4, 178. Listed at 5-9, 176.

LSU FB Connor Neighbors of Huntville is 5-10.2, 242. Listed at 5-11, 230. Sounds like the FBs have been advised to gain weight.

Ole Miss safety Cody Prewitt is 6-2.1, 212. Listed at 6-2, 217.

Alabama OL Austin Shepherd is 6-4.4, 324. Listed at 6-5, 315.

Samford safety Jaquiski Tartt of Mobile is 6-1.3, 220. Listed at 6-1, 218. Another one who was accurate.

Auburn TE CJ Uzomah is 6-5.1, 263. Listed at 6-5, 264. Almost exactly.

I am starting to wonder if taking a Melvin Gordon at 14 might be an interesting way to go...a player that is great in any class and a guy that can contribute right away.

Joe needs players to help now.

Miller and Gordon coupled with Turner at guard...sign a Franklin for LG...Fins might be in business.

Taking a RB in round one is not great value, but it might be this year...though I love this RB class.

Tough call at this point.

Auburn's Sammie Coates steals show at South Weigh In
One of three redshirt juniors eligible to play in Mobile this week, Auburn WR Sammie Coates started the week strong with an impressive weigh-in on Tuesday morning. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 201 pounds at Auburn, he measured 6-1 (3/8”) and 213 pounds on the Senior Bowl stage, showing off his cut, muscular physique. Coates was 12 pounds heavier than his listed weight at Auburn, but it appeared to be all muscle on his lean, defined frame.

Coates also impressed with his arm length (33 1/2”), which was better than several of the offensive tackles on the South roster like LSU's La'el Collins (33 1/4"), Colorado State's Ty Sambrailo (33 1/8”) and Alabama's Austin Shepherd (32 3/4").

UCLA DE Owa Odighizuwa appeared better suited for a bodybuilder competition with his shredded body type and head-to-toe muscle definition. He measured 6-3 (1/2”) and 266 pounds with huge hands (11 1/8”) and ideal length (33 1/8”).

“@Eric_Edholm: Danny Shelton w/fist pump after weighing in at 343 lol”-Thoughts, #Dolphins tweeps? I'm not sure he's on the board at No. 14.

Washington State WR Vince Mayle made a nice sideline grab right in front of me. I used my nimble feet to get out the way.
