The practices have been completed, the game is in action, does anyone have any thoughts on players? any guys to keep an eye on for now for Miami during the draft?

Obviously DT- Danny Shelton from Washington is the stand out guy we have all seen and heard upon, but at DL I have liked Carl Davis, Henry Anderson, and Nate Orchard is interesting as well.

Otherwise the guys that interest me most are WRs we can bring in hopefully to run out of the slot:
Jamison Crowder- Duke Tyler Lockett- Kansas State Phillip Dorsett- Miami

Then there are tons of names from the OL position that could be great to bring in as well.

any thoughts? opinions?

Give me Danny Shelton @14, Dorsett in the 2nd rd and Ameer in the 3d. superbowl!

Liking ladarius Gunter, good size, can play, just needs to turn to the ball better when contesting. Later round guy.

Kevin White TCU is another later round guy who is probly moving up into mid-rounds. smaller guy who plays bigger than size. People around here wont want guys like him for this but I find that notion overrated. Smaller guys can also knock the ball out from underneath.

Josh Shaw is another guy who had to face better competition in this one vs. East-West. Still played well minus interference on Lockett.

I like Carl Davis more now that I have seen him more and he went against one of the better G's in Tre Jackson who I consider yet another G who we could plug and play. He was pretty solid and run and pass IMO.

Laken Tomlinson is a starting G as well. Really proved himself as a starter IMO. 3rd rounder now coming up from later rounds.

Also am impressed with Koundjio. Yet another starting G from day one. Which could mean there draft status may suffer a little because depth is now valid at this position. The guy I would want is John Miller in round 5 or 6. I came away thoroughly impressed with him in the East West.

Danny Shelton I thought was a plugger more than anything else. If he is a top ten pick in a lot of people's minds. So be it. I think his thing is he takes on double teams and still can get some penetration. But once again, no proof that he could be a full timer in the NFL until he gets experience with the faster game and go through a full season. I wouldnt lose sleep if we lost out on him. There are others who have good size and get better penetration IMO.

Gabe Wright gets penetration quick and has some good moves but overran making plays behind LOS because RB just jukes you and then they are gone. Always has been frustrating to me, which brings you back to guys like Shelton. What do you want in this defense?

I would do cartwheels if Malcom Brown or Carl Davis could end up our pick at 47. Not likely.

Tyler Lockett was open early and the QB's are too stupid to even recognize this and they ended up running or extending play when not necessary or go to guys who are blanketed. QB's frustrated me more than anything. WR's got a little jipped here because of this.

I like Sammy Coats, at 47. But just too deep a position for me to do this with so many other defensive needs.

Really liked the RB's in David Johnson as a bigger back who will either go late or undrafted. Like the Minnesota kid in Cobb. good size as well and good in passing game. 3-4th rounder. Abdullah was probly the best overall runner.

Tyler Varga will be a cult hero. Listed as a FB but runs the rock pretty well. If his body is rocked It wouldnt surprise me if Philbin wanted a closer look of him as a blocker as well in this sytem.

Vince Mayle came on in the end. Another 6'3" guy who will probly go undrafted.

Nick Boyle is a big guy at 6'5' 273. Showed alot of athleticism for that size and was involved more in the game than others.

Agree that RB Johnson looked good size speed and agility.... Late rounds maybe. Shelton's team mate Hau'oli Kikaha looks like a Beast too ..... Dorsett and Perryman unable to participate ....disappointing. QB .... Disappointing but thought Bryce Petty... Did seem to work through his progressions well and had decent delivery..... Late rounds maybe. Decent overall performance from a few corners but see disappointing QB play ........RB Abdullah MVP quick and allusive but kinda small Just a few observations

I was shocked how sound Lakin Tomlinson was playing at G throughout myself... and to add I was impressed with C/G- Max Garcia from Florida, and T- Donovan Smith from Penn State seemed to be doing well at T (i gotta look into more).

I'm glad you mentioned Kevin White because he was looking like he was never getting beat. He played with great technique and had great speed and acceleration. He was impressive this week... and to go with him I liked Quinten Rollins too. He is a little more raw but a great athlete who can play the ball extremely well. He is a fluid runner too.

Agreed with Carl Davis too... I liked A LOT... and if Danny Shelton doesnt make it to us, he is a guy we can aim for at some point!!! But Shelton has GREAT hands, check him out some more, I believe he will stand his ground with double teams, but he will get off blocks and flow well with the ball. Either way, he'll be a great team defender in the middle which we NEED.

I agree we need more on the defensive side too, and O-Line more, but is still want to bring in a slot WR due to the fact you have 3 top guys coming out of the draft this year... Jamison Crowder, Tyler Lockett, Phillip Dorsett all possaiblities (thats the order I like too). And LOL... Totally agree with you on how poor the QBing was, these WRs didnt get much of a chance to show much. Sammy Coats though, I dont think I would go get as a high draft pick, there are many styled liked him... more of a big hit here and there.

Nick Boyle I liked too as well as many others... but I really dont want to use another pick on a TE... sooooo many used in past many years.

and last is Tyler Varga who I didnt mention before yet. I've heard great stuff from him as a blocker and receiver out of the backfield, but watching him run was fun!!! If Miami needs a FB, lets do it. I miss the 2 years of Lousaka Polite who from what I remembered those 2 years only getting stuffed once on a 3rd or 4th and short.

I gotta look into Josh Shaw, Ladarius Gunter, and Vince Mayle now!!!

One more thing on Danny Shelton.

They say he dominated in one on one's, but in the game, not so much. He takes on two blockers. Thats the supreme benefit to me.

Yeah if can take on double teams in the middle, that already helps open up our LBs, who couldnt get off blocks and got lost 5 yards away quite often.

Plus Danny Shelton flows very well with the ball too, he keeps his lanes in the running and passing game. He is a team defensive player in the middle, he understands his role, but also can make plays. In the passing game he will bull rush often towards the QB, and leaves no room for the QB to escape since he stays in his lanes so well. Plus he uses his hands very well too!!!
