Hey I know you are probably getting tired of all these opinions but I wanted to try and share mine. I am 29 and started watching the Dolphins with my dad (who had season ticket back in the Orange bowl) when I was in 1st grade. That year turned out to be the last year I saw them go to the AFC championship game and they lost to the bills at home.
We lived in Miami then so watching the games on TV was easy and if we wanted to go to a game or two a year we did. Now I live in Orlando and it is a bit harder as they put the Jags on before the Fins which is nuts but if I have to pay a little money to watch a game I will.
Getting to the point, back when I was in 1st grade all the way until I graduated high school I felt like this was our year. The beginning of the new season meant that Dan was finally gonna win his ring. It meant that Don was going to be carried of the field again. We were never out of a game with #13 on the field. We were invincible.
Then we started to have some trouble. When Don left and Jimmy came in he thought he was going to pull another blockbuster trade like he did with Walker in Dallas. This time his target was Marino and so when he found out Dan was untouchable he blamed him for every problem the team had. The fans new who the problem was, it was Jimmy who refused to use the tools he had to win game. It was the beginning of the Dolphins organization looking foolish and the front office treating the fans like we were stupid. He had Jimmy pass on one of the best WRs of all time for John Avery and we were the fools. We had our owner beg him to stay when he left and set up Dave as the new coach. We had Dave trade away a 2nd round pick for a 3rd stringer. We had Saban lie to our faces on national TV multiple times and then run north for more money. I think that was really what made the fans angry because we hated Cam when he passed on what we thought could be the future for a kick returner. He came out and said lets turn those thumbs the other way and we could see he was in over his robotic head.
Next Wayne went out and finally did it right. He brought in Parcels and he would build the team right. And that 1st year it looked like he had done it but it went down hill. Which leads me to booing Chad. Fans weren't targeting Chad with their anger, (Yes they were but it wasn't all about him). Fans were angry that all off season Tony kept telling us that there would be a REAL QB competition, and they bring in Matt Moore. This was not the competition we were promised. At best, we were treated like fools again, at worse we were lied to in the same way Saban lied to us, only Tony didn't scurry away like a rat after he did it. He just looked at use and said this is a QB competition.
And so the fans booed. But they were booing Tony's lie to us. They were booing the QB that may be a nice kid but can't hit an open receiver in practice with no pressure in his face. They were booing because we no longer believe we can come back from anything. We no longer believe this is our year. Its pretty sad that Chad got booed but the throws were not the cause of it they were just the last straw.
I say I want Tony out. I say I want Cowher in. I say I am prepared to Suck for Luck, but in reality I want this team to surprise me. I would much rather this team break out and surprise all the boo birds. I just don't believe in the QB or the coach they way I once did.
