Seriously?

I'm from So Cal and I fly out twice a year to get to games and I have not seen this problem. The worst it ever was is when the Ravens come to town. The fans in the northeast travel well and buy up all the season ticket holder seats that are placed with brokerages and stub hub. Its not really the fans fault it is the season ticket holders who buy and sell for profit. It sucks but that is the story around the NFL, it just happens that Miami is a great place to visit especially in the winter so they make a vacation out of it just like I do. I'll tell ya what though, none of that matters cause in a 70,000 sear stadium you wont hear the 15-20K fans from the other side if we are winning!
F%^K the Pats and their fans!!!

Their is no one to blame except the fans for this story. Hell even the players for the past week have been waving their pom poms trying to get this fan base excited for this season.

Ross/Ireland tries to bring in a new coach which shows he has no confidence in Sparano. Ross/Ireland/Sparano try to bring in a new QB which shows they have no confidence in our starting QB.

Why the **** should the fans have any confidence in this team. Its kind of hard to win with a **** coach and a **** QB.

This is 100% Ross's fault. Its a learning experience for him and I'm sure ticket sales will get better next season.

so don't give me any of that "it costs to much BS". It's about supporting you team through thick and thin, no excuses.

Its great that you have that much money to spend. Good for you.

Now, being that your so die-hard and can afford it. God forbid your situation ever changes and the Dolphins organization reciprocates and gives you the same support, just like your giving them (money wise). If you have the cash and this is what you wish to spend it on, by all means more power to you. But DO NOT belittle a legitimate excuse because your situation is such that that excuse does not apply.

That we are one of the 'cheapest' NFL ticket cities is irrelavent. There are plenty of fans that would love to attend the games. I know many of them. Unfortunately their financial situation does not afford them the opportunity to pay for such luxuries at this time when they have more important real world needs.

In fact I dare ask that why dont most of you that judge and are so die-hard, why dont you MOVE down here and support the team? Your so die-hard and through thick and thin and all that.

What? your jobs and lives are somewhere else? So? Dont YOU care enough about this organization to put them first in your lives?

South Florida is a completely different animal from anywhere else in the country. You have alot of people not from here, many of whom migrate from the northeast and are Patriot fans and Jets fans. Then you have a very high rate of people who come from other countries that don't "get off" on football like fans that grow up in the States.

It doesn't help that the Fins haven't won in 39 years and the "younger" people that are working don't have those fond Dolphin memories and rather spend their money elsewhere. Yea, its an excuse, but unless people are forking over money to help fans go to the stadium, people are going to find other things to do in Miami until the Fins become a better product on the football field. Hell I check out 2 or 3 games a year . . . I wish I could do more, but family members are getting laid off and are getting kicked out of their houses and have no where to go and I have the room to help them until they get on their feet . . . its happened for a few years like that now and its tough. Hell my girl doesn't want me to go to any games because we need every penny and I can easily watch the games at home . . . but I need to hit atleast 2 or 3 games a year, and I try to hit any road games within a decent distance (Jviile, Tampa, ATL, Carolina, NO).

The problem lies in the economy and Dolphins "season ticket holders" selling there tickets to these opposing fans. If I had the money to buy season tickets I would hit every game, I wouldn't just sell off my tickets to anybody and pick and choose which games to go to. Hell I tried to jump on those $250 season tickets and they were gone . . . I bet the majority of the people who jumped on those are dealers selling the tickets, not real Dolphin fans.

Student Loans, mortgage, bills, cars, gas, vacations . . . it isn't easy to factor in money for tickets and parking, and then getting a friend or 2 to get tickets also . . . hell they rather wait for me to set up something at the house and BBQ.

Yea its a problem, but complaining about it like its the "fans" fault is complete BS . . . people are struggling out here, its different times and just because you go to a game when they play close to your area doesn't make you any more of a fan than a local fan that can't afford to go to the games.

The people who "got it" like that will come when the Fins start winning, the people who "don't" got it have to pray on winning radio shows contests and asking their part time weekend job for time off to go to the game. Reality.

I don't like generalizing the Miami Dolphins fan base. We have a lot of hardcore fans, and a lot of "fans." It is the "Miami thing" to do what is in, and what is trendy. Right now the Dolphins, the Marlins, and certainly the Panthers are not in at all.

This is going to be a bad stereotype because it does not account for Miamians as a whole, but this city is quite superficial. No one really gets into anything at all as a whole except for what is being blown up by the media.(The Heat)

This problem with the "fans" reaches much further than just money and winning teams. It stems from the societal norms that envelope the city. The Dolphins haven't created a communal meeting of the minds between fans and "fans." No matter what Ross pumps into that stadium, be it Club LIV and overpriced food, it is not going to bring people to the stadium.

But to rebut what I just said, that sense of community that the Heat brought this season was astounding. It felt great, the city felt alive and everyone was walking around with the same sense of mentality that our team is the ****. Miami has the ability to come together as a fan base, but the Dolphins haven't brought that togetherness for a lot of people for years. The in team at the moment is the Heat. The Dolphins took the back seat for the majority of "fans."

I remember hearing the phrase "fair weather" fans after the Marlins won the pennant in '97. That phrase still sticks with this city. There are fans and there are "fans." The ones who stuck with the team through the abysmal '07 season and any other down season are the fans.

And I'm not saying that if you are a Hater you aren't a fan. Haters and Homers both fall into the fan category. Haters love this team so much that they ****ing hate it when we blow. Hell they even go ahead and come onto forums to troll the hell out of the Homers. The majority of "fans" here in Miami could give two ****s about what the Miami fans think.

I hate seeing more opposing teams' fans than Dolphins fans at games. It sickens me. It extends much further than just football. It's kind of disturbing that the small minority of Pats fans in Miami might outnumber the Dolphins crowd.

I have faith and/or confidence in the team. Am I an idiot for that? What else is there to do? You're either with them or you're not. Since I'm a fan, I'm with the team. I don't control what moves they make and I have no say in how things are run. That doesn't mean I still won't stick by them regardless of what happens.

LeBron James had a lot to do with the fans flocking to the arena and becoming die-hards. ESPN follows the guy around like he's Jesus and you know that if ESPN speaks positive towards your team/players, it has to be true.

On a side note to agree with KDAWG. Ticket prices are ridiculous. Law School tuition has me 40K in the red. If they dropped those prices I would love to go to the games. But CBS is free, a nice six pack of craft beers, and a blow job after the game (or halftime) sounds better than $45 dollars for nose bleed seats. I will end up going to a few games this year and put my self a little deeper in the hole, but that doesn't make it any better.

And when you turn on your sets tonight to watch the season opener, you will see a stadium loaded to the brink with well over 90% of the fans cheering hard as hell for the home team. This will take place in a blue collar town where I promise you the economy cant be better than that of Miami.

Sure, the home team tonight won the Super Bowl last season. Key words..... LAST SEASON. Everybody is 0-0 right now. The Packers havent won a god damned thing yet this year. Not so much as a single game. Why our local fan base cant get down with heading out to the stadium in full force and try to root this phins team on to a victory in a huge game for us is beyond me.

Both games are national tv games on weekday evenings and ours is more signifigant to our teams season considering its a divisional game. There comes a point when you just have to admit that the local fan base is a joke.

And thats another thing . . . the 50 dollar seats are typically nose bleed seats . . . sure the environment is great and hell I deals with it . . . but I was able to get great tickets on the 40 yard line when I went to see the Fins play Jville in 2009. Spent 40 bucks a ticket. Sure, maybe not a great example because they have similar issues with attendance, but you aren't getting those kind of seats at that price. The "diehard" fans sacrifice the ulitimate viewing experience at home on a 60 inch HD Plasma all the time to assist with the 12th man at SunLife in seats with bad angles and 10 dollar beers. To do it once or twice is great . . . . it gets expensive doing it 8 to 10 times a year.

Now I'm sure there are supreme fans who's cars are getting repo'd and lights are on and off every week because they had to make that payment on those Fins season tickets . . . I can't do that.

You mean the town that actually "owns" their team? You said it best blue collar, there is nothing in that town to do but eat cheese and go to Packers games. Sure I'm stereotyping . . . but am I really? And "sure they just won the Super Bowl" . . . let Miami win a Super Bowl and see all these rich bandwagon fans buy the tickets up and then charge the diehard fans $100 for nosebleed seats . . . this is hustle town down here, everybody wants to make a come up. The "real" Dolphin fans are the ones working 9-5's . . . we aren't going into any skyboxes or clubs inside of Sunlife stadium . . . Ross was trying to cater to a fanbase whose real fans don't give a **** about that ****. The real fans gave a damn about the Orange Bowl, that was bluecollar, and old and raggedy and PERFECT. Real fans weren't paying 25/30 bucks to park . . . we were hustling a Cuban near the Orange Bowl trying to get him under 10 bucks to park in his yard. This town has always been blue collar, don't let the glitzy lights of South Beach fool you.

Tell you what if I had the opportunity to move to Miami with my job I'd do it in a second. I don't make all that much money. I support my wife and son on my $60k income alone each year. I have priorities in my life and one of them is being able to make it to a Dolphins game every year. Hell, I even got a part time job on the side 2 nights a week just so I could afford to go now that I have a family. It's called a savings account and every time I get a paycheck from my P/T gig instead of spending it on a case of beer, fast food, or some stupid movie on DVD I put it in there. You see it's not about having the money it prioritizing the money you have and making it work for the things you really want to do. Which unfortunatley to lots of Dolphins fans in S. Fla seeing the Fins in person is no longer what they prioritize their money for.

This is like the third thread saying how horrible the fans that live in Miami are.

YOU WIN (nubs)

Now can everyone get back to talking football.

You made your observations.

It's always been like that in Miami and probably always will.

MOVE ON PLEASE

Or ***** about it every chance you get for the next 4 days.

If that makes you guys feel better.

Some fans probably just spend too much time at Finheaven and get depressed about the team, and figure we must never have a shot at doing anything good again.
