Maybe it will turn out like that time Jack Del Rio retired from Miami before ever playing a game. That worked out pretty well.

I remember being so upset because Offerdahl had just retired and Del Rio was going to be that stop gap MLB. He retired or was cut - and I was like WTF who’s this little twerp rookie that’s taken his job? Week 1 Thomas had like 18 tackles and knocked Shawn Jefferson into next week and I’m like “holy effing **** balls this guy is awesome!!”

I’d be calling Yannick Ngakoue, Carl Lawson and Markus Golden like yesterday. We cannot start the season with Kamara and Robinson.

If I recall correctly, it was very early into camp when Johnson made Thomas the starter. Del Rio was cut not long after that.

I liked Gink. He always gave 100%, but let's not overstate what he was. Nice player in the right scheme. Limited upside. Not enough of a difference maker at the price Minnesota payed.
