I have no problem with anyone ripping Tannehill although I think its not founded but blaming our poor pass protection on him makes no sense. Not to mention we traded for a washed up LT not a washed up Qb to replace a starter
You're responding to a self proclaimed QB guru who created a "Get Real" thread about Tannehill leading the Dolphins to great successes. Nothing wrong with missing and changing your mind but he chastised CK for changing his mind on a win-loss prediction yet he does the same thing. Glass houses and stone throwing......![]()
Well I don't think you can make an argument that Tannehill is the best player on the team when he's playing average at his position by objective standards, and there are other players who are playing above average at their positions.
Whatever our opinion of Tannehill is.....he's going to get three years to prove he is a legit NFL QB...
One small problem... One does not learn pocket presence.
You wake up out of bed with it.

I don't agree with Sharpe that it is all on Tannehill and I usually do not agree with the OP on his posts. But what you just wrote sounds like "pot...kettle".
At this time you don't have to be anti-Tannehill to be considered ignorant. All you have to do is criticize him on one play and you are being called ignorant, hater and whatever.
The OL is our weakest part, no doubt, but that does not mean Tannehill is absorbed of any criticism. Sharpe pointed two plays out and analyzed them quite good. I personally can say that there are at least two more sacks where I put the blame on Tannehill. But you really could only see that when you are in the stadium with a full view of the field. I am sure there are a few more plays.
I always said that in year two I want to see significant improvement from Tannehill before I could declare him anything better than an average QB. From last year to this year he is stagnant. And I do recognize that sometimes our receivers drop the ball and our OL breaks down at times. But every QB has to deal with that. Outside of these moments there were enough plays for Tannehill to be made (i.e. the two plays Sharpe pointed out). It comes to the point that anything and everything going wrong is now checked off to everybody else but Tannehill.
I don't think that a lot of people realize that 2.5 to 3 seconds is an eternity in football. A really good QB gets the ball out of his hands in that time span. Maybe the reason why most here don't realize that this is an eternity is because most of the good QBs already got rid of the ball at that time.
Brady's OL is always featured as 'how an OL should be". Hey, there are times that he can have lunch and dinner before he starts looking for a receiver but if you watch Brady and the Patriots O it is his quick release time what made him so good. Why do you think guys like Welker were so successful? Why do you think Sharpe pointed exactly these two plays out? How often were we frustrated that Brady just got the ball out in time again?
Sitting in the pocket with 4 second to spare any QB can be good. Heck, even Sanchez. What makes a QB great is the ability to release a ball quick and accurate and that is what we are talking about. All the great ones can do that: Manning, Brady, Brees, Favre, Marino, Kelly, Luck etc. 2.5 to 3 seconds with an open receiver 5-10 yards down the field should be enough time.
If an objective evaluation makes me anti-Tannehill so be it. But that would prove my initial point
exactly wv, that is the thing with tannehill.Big difference. Im admitting I was WRONG. There is a difference in changing a prediction and changing an opinion.
Tannehill fooled me. I was wrong. Thing is Runofthemill dosent consistently suck. He could come out today and play great while leading us to a win vs. the Pats and I wont be stunned at all. In fact, I half way expect us to win today. The problem is that two times now Tannereach has gone on these runs of playing well in multiple games and looking like he is the answer we have all been looking for and following it up with more horrible play leading us to losses against teams with much less talent on their roster. Its a nightmare.
Here's the thing...... Ive said this already but, until Tannereach plays well in a number of games for a sustained period of time..... say the rest of this season with maybe one or two hiccups, then I cant get on board with him again. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss scenario. I wont get fooled again.
If Runofthemill can play well and lead us to wins in 7 of these last 10 games, then I will be willing to move forward with him. If not, Im over him. Im not buying in again even if he plays well in the next 2 games and we win a couple of critical ones. At 5-3 we would actually be in pretty good position for the 2nd half of the season. However, I would be a fool at this point to not think its entirely possible that Tannereach comes out after that and lays an egg against a terrible team like the Bucs and collapses our season even if we get in good position again in the standings.
I think there are some subtle distinctions that need to be made here. You must not read my posts. I have been critical of Tanney, the o-line, rb's, te's , the coaching staff, the front office .... everybody. You see this is where my bone of contention is with the anti-tannehill OCD'ers around here.
This whole mess is not just at Tannehill's feet as some want the rest of us to think. This is a team mess, from top to bottom.
Honestly, I don't know how many times I have to say this.
I think there are some subtle distinctions that need to be made here.
I think it's quite possible that the offensive line permits no greater percentage of sacks on Ryan Tannehill's dropbacks than the average offensive line.
Now, embedded (subtly) in that statement is that the offensive line, with regard to pass protection, isn't better than average. It certainly is not playing "well" in that sense.
However, Ryan Tannehill is sacked a whole lot more than the average QB when pressured.
I think it's entirely possible that Ryan Tannehill's deficiencies are responsible for that greater-than-average percentage.
In other words, the line can't do any better than average in that regard, because the line certainly is not above average, but what's happening that's so much worse than average is on Tannehill IMO.
