If we could somehow get Shaun Rogers, that would eliminate all debate on whether we're getting Glenn Dorsey or not...Rogers would cost less, we know hes good (when he wants to be, his good definitely outweighs the bad).. he was just on a bad team

So now comes draft time... teams ahead of us who need a QB (Ryan, Brohm, Woodson), a RB (Mcfadden) , or a LT (Long) might be worried and feel it would be necessary to trade up with us bc right now in the public eye, the perception is that the Dolphins are taking Dorsey, so if we get a stud NT in Rogers, hmm the Falcons, Jets, Raiders, etc. might now believe we'd be stealing one of their potential picks.. bla bla bla im rambling, but basically taking Rogers would get a huuuuge need off of our backs and create trade down scenarious...

Imagine taking the Cowboys two first round picks (and a third?) for Mcfadden... wow, what a turnaround this team can have with so much talent to add.. we would have FOUR picks in the top 60-some odd picks

PS... ive never been so psyched for a Senior Bowl.. whos with me lol

Our coaching staff can get the most out of him and keep his weight in check IMO. This guy is one of the best if he is in the right system and would be a perfect fit for the NT for years to come.

Getting Rodgers would certainly be hugh for us....weight would no longer be an issue...what u think we hired a strength and conditioning coach for lol. We better trade for him now since if we allows him to be a free agent, other teams with intreat in a NT would create problems for us to sign him at a cheap, but reasonable price lol. He can play in a 3-4, 4-3 it doesn't matter. A 4th or 6th, as i believe we don't have a 5th, trent green deal, round pick would be ok IMO.

I'll swap 1st rounders and get a 2nd or 3rd with R.Williams and S. Rogers. With the 15th pick we could go C.Campbell/J.Otah/Best CB/D.Conner or pray V.Ghloston drops. I would even consider QB there even though I believe J.Beck will turn out to be a excellent pick.(I just wish he was 2/3 years younger). You can never have to much talent a QB, just look at the Atlanta trade - and that would have been a greater move if M.Vick thought that dogs made good pets not flushable goldfish!!!

Don't know much about the guy to be honest with you.
How old is he.
He sure looks like the prototypical NT, if he's young and motivated he looks like he could be a beast. That would def allow to entertain trading out of the #1 spot and all that guaranteed money in that contract.

I like the roy williams and rogers packaged with the swapping picks idea that was mentioned earlier. I wish a definitive price would come up with the roy williams rumors.

the deal with shaun rogers is that he's out of shape, has poor work ethic, and is usually only in for 2 plays, then out for 4 to "catch his breath". ask any lions fan about him, and that is generally the answer you will get.

- is he talented? yes.
- is he a waste of talent? at this point in time.. yes.
- could he possibly get himself into shape? doubtful. that was his deal last year, to work out on his own, under his own workout program and he was nothing but a giant waste of space.
- could the proper coaching staff whip him into shape? its possible i suppose...
- would i sign him knowing all of that? I'd want to, yes, because he fills a big need on this team... but knowing all of the above... NO, sorry... i just wouldnt. I don't think he is committed enough to the game.

i do agree though, getting someone like him, does indeed open up our draft options more...

Rogers just reminds me too much of Wilkinson besides the fact that they're ex-Lion DT's with girth. On the field, when healthy and not fatigued, he's what we want. But just too out of shape for my liking.

as a canes fan, i dont wanna see calais anywhere near the fins. dude is so over rated....he did nothing this year.

calais campbell may have not done anythin this year...but last year he had 84 tackles and 7 sacks....that is AMAZING for a DE

Id take Rogers if we can get some kind of low salary with high incentives for things like keeping weight under control and performance.

Id much rather have Roy Williams and draft Dorsey though.

DAMN I WANT ROY.

I wish you ppl wouldn't have gotten it into my head.

IT's eating away at me.

I yearn for the day when we talk about the canes dominating again... instead of doing nothing.
