I'm not sure if this has been discussed here already, but I've been reading some articles lately about Shawn Jefferson and his work with the Fins receivers.

Whenever I hear Shawn Jefferson's name, all I ever think about is the huge hit he took in Zach Thomas's first game as a rookie. Do you guys remember this?

That play (and game) got me over the fact we cut Jack Del Rio in preseason for this little LB no one ever had heard of. He was all over the field that day - I recall him running Curtis Martin down sideline to sideline - and that hit on SJ - that was the icing on the cake. We knew we had a special player in Zach after that opening day game.

In that game, I remember there was series, where 1st down-stopped by Zach thomas, 2nd down-stopped by Zach thomas, 3rd down-stopped by Zach Thomas, He was a one man machine that game, and like you, I asked "Jack Del Rio who?"

He was a once in a lifetime player, so I just hope to get someone almost as good again.

Indeed. Zach Thomas was a once in a lifetime player, if for the simple fact that Payton Manning often mentions his name when discussing opponents in who he respected.

What I fear, yep fear... Is that because of his quiet, grab my lunch pale demeanour and personality that he may get overlooked for the Hall of Fame. In my view he is deserving of it, but he's not a mouth piece like others so hopefully if and it's a big if, JT gets in then perhaps that brings attention on ZT. Anyway. Here's hoping.

wasnt the sequence you are talking about inside our 10 yard line? I may be imagining but I vaguely recall him chasing Martin down at the edges on those consecutive near the goal line plays. What a special player.

Good man, you remember.

On that 2nd down he went clear across to the left sideline to make the play, and 3rd down, he then went to his right to hold them. ON that 3rd down, not only did he stop Martin, (Don't know if you remember) but he hit him so hard, me and some friends almost choked on shots that was bought for us from one of the Bartenders (Dolphin fan)...That was when I went from thinking we got ourselves a starting M-LB, to thinking, we got ourselves a special player.

LMAO, look at Parcells not even worried about the player! He is smirking and looking over at Zach like that was a good hit!

hahahaa. That's a great story - I don't follow college ball so for me I was just in utter disbelief at what I was witnessing from our undersized 5th round draft pick.

parcells was probably proud!

I was at that Monday night game in 2006 when he knocked Coles out for the Jets. I was in the opposite endzone and the crack was so loud, it sounded like it was right beside me. The whole stadium reacted at once like Ewwwwwwwwwwww!
