Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier clocked sub-4.4 forty times at the Buckeyes' Pro Day.
This is in addition to Shazier's highly explosive 42-inch vertical and 10-foot-10 broad jump at the Combine. Shazier is a tick over 6-foot-1 and 237 pounds with striking and coverage skills. He's a likely top-40 draft pick.

I like this kid a lot. if we drafted Ryan or Borland I would be very happy

"He's a true 4-3 outside linebacker," Mayock said, touting Shazier's "great speed" and "heavy production." Shazier finished third nationally in 2013 with 144 tackles, and he was tied for second with 23.5 tackles for loss.

He also had seven sacks and four forced fumbles. In his final two seasons at Ohio State, he had 269 tackles, 40.5 tackles for loss, 12 sacks and seven forced fumbles.

Terrific prospect. I had him pegged as a top 10-15 overall pick in my underclassman thread prior to the season. Reminds me a lot of John Mobley.

42" vertical... yowza.

I see a little 'leaner' Keuchly in this kid but with a greater sense of athleticism. I'm certainly intrigued and his pro day numbers makes you think a little harder and spend a little more on the film on this kid.

I like Shazier, but with our needs I do not think draft an OLB with the 1st pick, and that is what it will take, is the best move.

Question is can he shed blocks and be an effective run stuffer?

I wouldn't mind if he was a top 19 pick :chuckle:

**** this is the first time I've seen you not on NFLDC in ages....

I'd love a trade down that netted us another 2nd rounder, think it'd be huge.

1. X'avier S'ua-Filo, Cal
2a. Ryan Shazier, Ohio St.
2b. Troy Niklas, Notre Dame

Haven't watched Shazier yet, but he sounds like a great fit.

Helluva football player. Think Lavante David but a bigger hitter, special teams demon, and can rush the passer.

Prototypical WILL in a 4-3. Not sure if he fits an ODD front. I have him rated the #21 prospect in the class

I would take Ebron or Mosley at 19, Hyde in the 2nd round, and Borland in the 3rd round according to my mock.
That would be a great haul.
I like Shazier, but taking him at 19 is a reach, and he wont be there in the 2nd when we pick.
If we trade down, he could be a possibility. But that is a long shot.
