Sheffield rips Yankees (Jeter and ARod)....

"Gary Sheffield insinuated that Derek Jeter and A-Rod are not the leaders of the Yankees. He never mentions them by name in an explosive story set to run on Monday, and he doesn't say many nice things about his team. ''I ain't going to say who it is (leaders), but I know who it is. I know who the team feeds off. I know who the opposing team comes in knowing they have to defend to stop the Yankees.'' He also accused the media of portraying the two superstars ''in a positive light and everyone else is garbage.'' He also said some things about family, that are sure to fire George Steinbrenner up. ''It's not a family-oriented team. In L.A., wives can fly on the plane; with the Yankees they can't,'' the former Dodger said. ''With other teams, the wives always have functions to bring them together. Not here.'' He also said he doesn't have to ''speak to anyone in the organization to still do my job.''' After this, he probably doesn't have to worry about that."

Wow I wonder what set him off. I thought Sheff and ARod were friends especially since the All Star break and Sheff's comments about defending ARod. I'm sure this is the last thing the Yankees need right now.
 
Well thats not gonna be very good for the yankess... it will probably make their moral lower and lead to a non playoff season... oh man

With the exception of Jeter, Williams, and Posada, the entire Yankee roster is full of mercenaries. As a matter of fact, Sheffy is one of them. I love the guy and think he's a phenomenal player, but it's not like he didn't know better when he signed his deal. This isn't anything new.

As for the whole family thing... When you have a 200 million dollar payroll and are 3 games out of the wildcard chase to a team with 1/4 it's payroll, some concessions must be made. Suck it up. Play like a champion.

I'm sure you forgot about Mo Rivera too, he's not a mercenary.

Sheffield also said in the interview "I'm here to play baseball not make Pepsi commericals" (An obvious ARod shot there)
 
Is it just me or can anyone else picture George Steinberner doing his impression of Vito Corleone, walking up to Sheffield while Al Levine, Gene Michael and Brian Cashman are holding Sheff. Steinberner then just slaps Sheff right in the face and say, "Never let people outside the family know what you're thinking." And then slapping him again and saying, "And never go against the family."

the pin stripes are beginning to rally around that giambi guy too, by sept. I would'nt be surprised to see mngmnt. lookin' 2 him as well as shef for leadership. Jeter and A-rod'll get over it, they play in NY everyones an aZZ*#@$ in NY. Hey did you here wilbon on ptI yesterday?
 
I'm not trying to stir or start anything. I was simply posting a news topic that "could be" a pretty big deal for the Yankees.

Sheffieldis an idiot...the guy threw balls into the stands ON PURPOSE so the Brewers would get rid of him...he's the last person on Earth who should talk about "leadership".

I dislike Sheffield myself but I remember he did state that he lied about making errors on purpose so the Brewers would trade him, he claims he never made errors on purpose just said he did. Either way it was stupid to do/say.
 
it wuz wilbon defending Clemens (4 birthday sake) to mariotti (filling in for kornhizer) & mariotti was pertending to be dan Duqet I lol and thought of our chat it wuz great. But any how back 2 sheffield it's no biggie man shef's just blowin off steam he'z gotta' do that every three months or so or he turns into a street thug & coke head like his uncle.

It's funny because if Manny said those things it wouldn't be a big deal. Sheffield is basically saying Jeter isn't a leader, the media kisses Arod and Jeter and no one else and that when teams play the Yankees theyre afraid of him, not the other guys. Sheff then rips the FO on how they deal with things compared to LA (where he hated playing for). Sheff is off his meds I think.
