if reporters chasing Manning rattle him he may want to retire b/c no matter where he goes it's going to be a HUGE story. We are going to see a million stories all over the place over the next week or so, I don't think any of the "experts" have any idea where he lands right now.

100% agree. How can a 14 year NFL vet be rattled by the media?

I saw this report too, but I say its bull ****! Manning is one of the best QB's of all time and deals with press and crazy fans wherever he goes. He had to know there was going to be crazy excitement about him hitting free agency. He is going to receive the exact same treatment and press if he happens to visit KC, Washington or any city that has an NFL franchise until he makes his decision. Once this is done everything will go right back to normal.

This idea that Ross is on board and Ireland is not is also bull ****! People need to stop saying crap just to hear themselves speak. If Peyton is healthy there is zero doubt everyone in our orginization WANTS Peyton Manning in a Dolphins uniform!

I would not be surprised if he goes elsewhere. Unlike Fisher and Harbaugh, Miami was the favorite to get Manning. If they fail, there will be no denying how bad this organization has become.

BUT...who said we were the favorites to land Manning? Was it Peyton? Was it the Dolphins organization? Nope. It is a lot of media purely speculating...nothing more. They are going to keep stirring the pot as long as they can as they want to get as many people watching and reading their crap as possible.

The organization was pretty bad...I like what I have seen out of Philbin and company, and have faith that he and Ireland are going to turn this thing around.

Schefter just said KC has a good chance because Manning "Likes the smell of grass" gimme a ****in break. Don't believe the hype people!

I hope that you are joking lol

Put me in the camp that thinks this might actually be Manning's camp trying to get more leverage with the Dolphins.

I am suddenly to believe that Peyton Manning, a guy who has never shied from television cameras, who has more big endorsements than any other player in the NFL, who has tried to become the most recognizable and marketable man in sports, is going to shy away from rockstardom?

Please. This is exactly what he wants.

How can they 'fail' if the decision is 100% Manning's? He will decide where he plays no one else.

Point taken but Ross will do what he has to to sign Manning. Unless Manning doesn't want to play in Miami then it's on Ross as a failure. However, Manning has already said he would like to play in Miami, not in a definitive manner though.

if reporters chasing Manning rattle him he may want to retire ......

Translation - "I am a Jet's homer and want no part of P. Manning and the Phins kicking my a z z for the next three years."

If he likes the smell of grass, one would think he would prefer Miami, as we have lush carpets of green grass here year round. Unless they're talking about another kind of grass, in which case I'm sure Mr. Ross can see to that, as well. :)

I think the reporting on this has reached a new low. I realize that Peyton is the biggest free agent since well, maybe Reggie White? Maybe the biggest ever?

But come on, this is ridiculous. Peyton Manning to sign with Kansas City Chiefs because 'he likes the smell of grass.'

Just wait and see, folks. You're going to find out in about a week whether or not the Dolphins will have to go to plan B at QB.

If Ross is offering the most money and now supposedly willing to sign him without seeing him throw and Manning goes elsewhere, how is it not Ross' failure?

How stupid, if true, that the Dolphins would sign him without seeing him throw.

This would be the final kick to the nads if they don't pull this off. I'm not liking where this is heading.
