shelly smith has started 8 games 3 year career, and more topics

I'm not really a grammar or spelling nazi but darn, I got a headache trying to read that long and misspelled paragraph!

I find it funny people poo pooin when they know jack squat.

He was wanted by at least 5 teams that I read on KFFL. That tells me GM's know something.

2 last year, 6 the year before that. he is young yes, buy why so much love? does he fit our scheme or something? im guessing theyre banking on Zach martin at right tackle. who else, I know not micheal ola for damn sure. our guards are weak, I say we draft a guard in the third or forth, rb in the second. im more excited about our defense, cortelan Finnegan is a great signing, I don't care how he performed last year. hes going to spark the whole defense, along with delmas, who im assuming is going to control the defense considering clemons did last year, who is also a player that brings grit. wheeler will improve, have faith. and we know Ellerbe will continue to develop. koa misi is a terrible signing, hes a true number two lb, and only plays situation. I wanna see Jordan reak havoc like I thought he would last year. delmas and Finnegan will make our defense great, but Finnegan has reasonable doubt that he wouldn't cause problems in the lockerroom. hopefully not, unlikely, as grimes will guide him, and the team will eventually love the intensity he brings. plus hes a number two corner here, and was a number one in st Louis. talor or davis will never pass this previous perennial cb on the depth chart, whoever was saying that.
Should have put that a the beginning of your post... Then I wouldn't have had to read half your misinformed post to stop reading...

I really like this signing. He's young and has a lot of potential. He's played both Guard spots, graded out very good in run blocking, he's athletic enough to play in the ZBS and get to the second level, he's already been coached by our O-line coach.

He wanted $3 million a year and we got him for less. Gotta say Hickey is doing a really good job. From all accounts by the free agents we've signed it seems Hickey comes across as a very genuine person. I like that he's getting intense and passionate players. Hope that shows up on the field.

Thats all well and good. My question is if this kid is young and full of potential then why did we only give him two years?

I really like the signing. He is a VG fit, and easily the best available option at G. Smith only played around a third of the snaps last year at RG and LG. He ranked at #4 of all OG's on the run but, #58 in pass blocking where he needs work. Not sure which side is his best side, as he played more RG, and was better on the run but, worse on the pass.

I love the fact that we actually have a guy n the OL who can run block (short yardage) and is athletic. I believe the pass protect will come with coaching.

You answered your own question.

I would have added a couple of years of non guaranteed money but, chances are his agent would not have gone along with it.
