Not a take for me. Just looks too sloppy for me.
Not sure tbh. What I am sure is I want the meanest biggest dog to plunk beside Seiler with our first pick. I assume one of Chubb/JP will be around. Who knows maybe we can keep Campbell for another year? Not a take for me. Just looks too sloppy for me.
If we go Edge, I prefer Pearce. His get-off and production are through the roof. But Shemar could be a better compliment. He is a better run defender and his pass-rush production isn't terrible. 315 snaps and 39 pressures. One every 8.07 snaps. Both he and Pierce are unbelievable prospects and it would be pretty crazy if both were still there when we pick.
Pierce got knocked for character stuff apparently so that helps. It is very realistic they both fall and they're the BPA by a fair margin.
I was wrong about Chop ... I admitted it several times. Hope that arc keeps going up because he fell off there a little at the end of the year. He pulled a Jalen Phillips on us.
I wanted Mitchell so I was mad. The extreme lack of production at PSU did give me pause. I'd still swap them in a heartbeat given the chance.
Who is Turner? I'm drawing a blank.Conservatively... you've got to figure that both QBs, Carter, Graham, Hunter, and Turner SHOULD come off quickly.
That's 6.
I guess Turner might slide, but we'd jump on that... so 6.
Realistically, I don't think any of these will plummet.
If Simmons, Jeanty, or Warren... or better yet, all three get taken.
We're looking REALLY good then.
Lol... so am I...Who is Turner? I'm drawing a blank.
I'd also include Will Campbell as a guy who won't make it to 13. First OL off the board is my guess. Will Johnson is more likely to make it to 13, IMO. Depending on how his pro day goes. Some are now questioning his long speed.Lol... so am I...
I have no idea where that came from.
Johnson.
Could be... I won't disagree with any of that. As I've said, when people say, "this guy WILL or WONT" be there; they are talking out of their lower orifice.I'd also include Will Campbell as a guy who won't make it to 13. I prefer beef at 13 too. So far, I have not seen anyone I'd prefer over Membou. Assuming Campbell is gone.Could be... I won't disagree with any of that. As I've said, when people say, "this guy WILL or WONT" be there; they are talking out of their lower orifice.
I think the key thing is that... no matter which 12 are selected ahead of us, there will very likely be a guy available @13 who fits our needs.
I think a lot of folks fall in love with a candidate or a position and then internalize it to such a point that they are just POSITIVE that all the clubs agree with them.
MY preference is for beef... a DE, DT, or T/G... and if the team agrees (which isn't guaranteed. Hell, they might want Warren or McMillan). When I reduce my list down... I'm left with 5 players who I'd happily select in that spot. Mykel Williams, Shemar Stewart, Will Campbell, Kelvin Banks, or Mason Graham... with the added 2 of Tetairoa McMillan and Will Johnson that I value, but that would obviously force the team into going beef, beef, beef, beef... with their next 4 or 5 picks. Taking one of those two means we'd be so much less likely to take a QB or a TE in rounds 3-5.
We keep saying... ALL of us keep saying... the team needs to be tougher... stronger... and then many immediately talk about taking positions that would not help us where we are weakest-- in both trenches. I want to hit my head against the wall when someone suggests a Safety, and then lists a 3rd tier Guard as their 5th round target. Ugh.
My problem with Membou is singular... I'm just not convinced that a man who is 6'3" can really play Tackle in this league.I prefer beef at 13 too. So far, I have not seen anyone I'd prefer over Membou. Assuming Campbell is gone.
Derrick Deese did it pretty well for 10 years for SF. Well, 8 to be exact. He was a guard his first three seasons. Isaiah Wynn was solid at LT for NE but couldn't stay healthy. That wasn't due to height. He's only 6'2 btw.My problem with Membou is singular... I'm just not convinced that a man who is 6'3" can really play Tackle in this league.
I see him as Guard only... and 13 is a bit high for a Guard only.
He could prove me wrong, but that's my lean.
There are always outliers... but do you take them early, knowing full well that players well outside the size parameters usually fail? I'm gonna say, "no", it's like taking a safety early... you know full well, that very few are worth anywhere near that much. When you take a player from a cheap position, or one who lacks requisite size, they've GOT to be elite... anything less than elite and you've overpaid.Derrick Deese did it pretty well for 10 years for SF. I don't think height is a deal breaker for an OT. Arm length, footwork, (kick slide, lateral movement) core strength, balance, and hand punch, are just some of the things more important than an inch or two of height. If Membou came in at 6'4 at the Combine, then you'd think he could play OT?
Any concerns about Kelvin Banks at 6'4? The height thing with him at OT I have never seen brought up. So he has a total of one inch on Membou, as far as we know right now. Membou had 34" arms at the Senior Bowl. What if Banks has 33" arms at 6'4? You gonna be okay with him at OT?There are always outliers... but do you take them early, knowing full well that players well outside the size parameters usually fail? Also, 6'3 is not "well outside" the size parameters. If he was 6'4, his playing OT would never be questioned.
We were aligned on Chop last year pre draft..First of all... a brief apology... I might be a-fixin' to be a little sarcastic here... (bear with me).
Last year, a number of us stated quite clearly that Chop Robinson was THE physical freak among the OLB-type Edges last year, but the crybabies (here's the sarcasm that I warned you about) sniffed... but his production! If he was any good, he would have put up sooo many more sacks.
I guess they were.... WRONG (as Ray would jabber).
Chop had/has a nightmarish first step and as one of the youngest players in the draft, he just hadn't put it all together yet. The classic, decent floor/astronomical ceiling prospect. ...and he came on as the season progressed, even though his running buddies were... umm... old, and less than stellar.
But Fever... (you say)... I thought your title said Shemar Stewart?
Can you say, hit me again, Chris.
Shemar KILLED the Combine... just killed it. He put up some of the best numbers, not just of this combine but historically.
I already liked him.
Now he is the #1 prospect on my board at 13. Pairing these two would give us a dream pass rush. One power/speed, and one with a dynamite twitch.
If he's on the board and we pass. I'll cry... out loud.
I think it could go either way... I'm gonna guess that he puts that weight back on over the course of his career... maybe immediately once he is playing ball and not running track. We were aligned on Chop last year pre draft..
Time to take a deep dive on Shemar.
With his weight loss we’re looking at him as a strict edge player correct?
