Shemar Stewart

Both he and Pierce are unbelievable prospects and it would be pretty crazy if both were still there when we pick.

Pierce got knocked for character stuff apparently so that helps. It is very realistic they both fall and they're the BPA by a fair margin.

I was wrong about Chop ... I admitted it several times. Hope that arc keeps going up because he fell off there a little at the end of the year. He pulled a Jalen Phillips on us.

I wanted Mitchell so I was mad. The extreme lack of production at PSU did give me pause. I'd still swap them in a heartbeat given the chance.
My mom always said, “ dogs get mad people get angry" :p

Maybe... maybe not.

Every year, we hear that this or that guy will NEVER drop that far... and some do.

My other favorite player, Tet McMillan, was originally thought to be a top 5 guy, now some mocks have him sliding down to the 20s.

There's so much smoke before the draft, so much lying, so much posturing...

If both are taken, then the Offenisve Linemen slide down. There are only so many players who can be taken in the top 12. (12, I think)
keep in mind that 23 players are going in the top 12 picks

I thought we should have taken Quinyon Mitchell last year. Now here we are with one 30 year old CB and a bunch of scrubs. If Will Johnson is there he has to be the pick.

I don’t love any of these OL. We better spend some money in free agency for OL.

We have Chubb, Chop, and Phillips on the edge. Adding another guy here is diminishing returns.

The guy that popped to me at a position of need was the DT from Oregon. Derrick Harmon looked amazing. Put him next to Seiler and we are good at DT.

I also love Tyler Warren. He helps us block the edge. He gives us a big target for Tua. He can play QB on short yardage and goal line. I think he brings so much to the table.

Conclusion, BPA at a position of need is either Will Johnson, Derrick Harmon, or Tyler Warren. DT is unbelievably deep this year. I think I could get a good one at 48, 98, or maybe even 115. So I’m between Will Johnson and Tyler Warren.

There's some good tape out there of Stewart and Membou going head to head. They both had their wins and losses but it was Membou's lowest graded game last season.
Will Campbell's lowest grade of the season also was against A&M and Stewart.

He had a good day at the combine but he had 4.5 sacks for his whole career in college. Sorry but not who I'd take at 13

hard to argue with Kebo here

A lot of great athletes at DT coming out in every shape and size you could be looking for.

Harmon could have solidified himself as a top 15 pick with his times, measurements, and the 2cd highest pass rush win percentage of any DT coming out.

I just wouldn't put much stock in Phillips and Chubb. Ideally they'd contribute, but I wouldn't count on it. If you need to go CB, we'll see how these guys run (real question for Johnson's Pro Day imo), a player should be there at 48. Mitchell should have went Top 20, but I don't think Johnson is the same caliber athlete. Need him to run 4.42 or better at his Pro Day to even consider him at 13. If he was running at the Combine, I'd say 4.45 or better. But, Jarrian Jones went 96 in '24. Had a Top 40 grade on him, and he was excellent as a rookie. He's not on the same level as Mitchell, but you can find good starters at CB later- much harder at DT and Edge.

The Eagles drafted Mitchell and DeJean after their cup was overflowing at DT, Edge, and OL. Miami needs to be putting premium assets in the trenches imo - including TE.

If Grier is freeing up cap space to be aggressive this offseason, isn't Chubb almost a guaranteed post June 1 cut? He frees up 18 million.

Actually... he dropped 14 lbs.

Not unusual, a lot of players do this each year.

But even after dropping weight to 267lbs from 281 at the Senior Bowl, he out jumped the much smaller Pierce.

Pierce's jumps were comically low... more in line with an Offensive Lineman.

Yes, his straight line speed was very fast, but his jumps were very bad. That's not a good sign for a OLB.

Pearce Jr is remarkably fluid, had a fine Broad, and ran a 1.56 10-yard split. Some elite athletes are subpar jumpers. Jamaal Charles posted a 30" vert at 200 lbs, and he's as explosive as any RB in NFL history. Like Charles, Pearce Jr is a slippery, easy mover - a glider.

Usually guys with elite jumps are wound tight - Bud Dupree and Cam Wake are great examples.

There are different kinds of elite athletes, and Pearce Jr's vert is of no concern. At about the same weight, he ran faster in the 10 and 40 than Von Miller - who jumped fine (obv better than Pearce Jr) but not exceptionally well.

Hard to imagine he'd get past the Bears at 10. They need two OG's and a Center in Chicago, they aren't going to find that at No.10. And with picks 39 and 41 in round 2, they can address their lone big defensive need with Stewart in round 1.

You'll NEVER hear a complaint from me about drafting a DE (or CB) in round 1.

Pearce won’t be there at 13
