There is a broken relationship between Philbin and Ireland and the question is whether or not Ross fixes it. Sherman undoubtedly stood with Philbin.
True but if the rumors that he wanted McAdoo but had to settle for Sherman are correct, then it wouldn't really matter?
I don't know. I'm just trying to find a bright spot. All I'm saying is that if Ireland goes, I'll bring an open mind into this and try to be optimistic.
Well...... the coaches run the show. The GM is there to support the coaches. Ireland can't grab players he wants, and then direct the coaches to use them. That's not how a good football team is run. The coaches tell the GM what to get, and the GM does his best to get them the best talent that fits the description. Ireland is the common denominator here.... yet he is made of teflon and will keep his job......I want Ireland gone, but I keep having the same thought over and over. Is it possible the real disconnect was between Ireland and Sherman. As far as the talent/pieces Ireland was getting for the offense and Sherman was the one refusing to use those pieces? Of course that doesn't make Philbin look good, or any of them look good, but is it possible? We all remember the comment Sherman made on hard knocks. That if he was the GM he would have cut Egnew. I always thought that was a very telling comment by Sherman. Not telling towards Ireland but telling as to how Sherman saw himself and his role within the Dolphins.
And adapting the playcalling to our players strengths.
Ill Bet Michael Egnew is laughing his ass off right now...
If it is in fact McAdoo, all I know is that he's still fairly young (DOB 1977) and he's been coaching in the NFL for almost a decade. That and the players like him. So there's that.
I personally don't want McAdoo. I want an experienced OC.
There are many out there.
