Sherman Fired

Wow...never saw him being scapegoated for Ireland:rolleyes2:...

Step in the right direction. Love to see a young imaginative O-Coordinator brought in.

For some reason Im not as excited as I thought id be. I think this team has made me so numb to anything they do, its hard to get excited about anything.

Yeah, me too. However, if they fired Ireland, I might begin to get excited about some real change.

Mort has been saying that Phins are waiting for Wells report to come out so they can have cover to fire Ireland, with cause, to avoid paying him. Something about report showing Philbin wanted Incognito gone after golf course sexual assault incident but Ireland told him no, he wasn't going to cut RI.

So there may be hope!

Being average at your job is cause for the rest of the world to get fired. The report may clear Ireland as well.

Well...... the coaches run the show. The GM is there to support the coaches. Ireland can't grab players he wants, and then direct the coaches to use them. That's not how a good football team is run. The coaches tell the GM what to get, and the GM does his best to get them the best talent that fits the description. Ireland is the common denominator here.... yet he is made of teflon and will keep his job......

You are missing my point. Again, Ireland should go, he has a cloud hanging over his head, the fans won't let it go so he has to go. But sorry, Philbin has been in on all the talent that was brought in the last 2-years. Players that he essentially drafted along with Ireland the last 2-years that he as the HC has decided not to play. I seriously doubt Philbin and Ireland weren't making a co-decision on the talent essembled the last 2-years. IMO no way no how that took place, they did it together.

If you follow that rational, then why did Philbin agree to not use the players he essentially drafted the last 2-years. To me it's all about Philbin let Sherman alone to be a co-HC and let Sherman do w/e he wanted because Philbin trusted Sherman so much.

I'm not remotely suggesting Ireland should be saved. However, if we got rid of Ireland and not Sherman IMO that would have been the real issue not resolved, and even bigger problems would occur in the future. The way I see things is no matter who they were to bring in over Ireland it would still be Philbin's picks, because he is the HC. Basically if you are keeping Philbin, IMO you have to keep Ireland. If you want Ireland gone, Philbin has to go as well.

As soon as I saw that Sherman had been fired I knew we were screw. The headline should have read "Dolphins clean house" but the fact they fired Sherman means they're keeping everyone else and that sucks. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Sherman is gone but Ireland and Philbin should be gone too. Sherman didn't bring in bad free agents and he didn't waste draft picks. That's all on Ireland.

Ozzy rules!!

Indeed. We should've cleaned house. Nothing is more disappointing that a job half done.

As stated in another thread, this is why we're average.

Hard to believe we've been waiting just for Sherman to take the fall all by himself. Clean the damn house Ross!!!!

Ozzy rules!!

Ireland and Philbin. I'm not sure why ppl are giving Philbin the pass when it comes to the talent they have brought in the last 2-years.

If I was Ireland and essentially brought in the players Phlbin wanted and I saw Philbin wasn't using most of the players I would be a little confused!

Philbin is going nowhere. Right or wrong, by dumping Sherman today I think the writing is very clear on the wall on Joe's future.

Ireland is still up in the air. The only theory I got as for why there's still no word is that they're waiting for the Wells Report so that they can pin it all on him, ****can him, and then fire him for cause and not have to pay him.
