Great stuff throughout the thread, Chambers.

I like Philbin. I'm still holding out hope for him; I'm anxious, but I'm holding out hope. I think he has to involve himself more on offense. I'm not talking about calling plays, but I've never had the sense that he really interjected himself into the offense. It was always Mike's offense, and best wishes, but I'm glad he's gone. We'll almost certainly bring in a WCO guy, but it'll be interesting to see if we lean more toward Houston's (and I agree completely with the idea that we were supposed to run something that looked like Houston's offense) or GB's. I like GB's offense - especially when they remember to run the ball.

If I could have fired only two people this off season, (like many here) I'd have gone Ireland and Sherman. One down . . .

Mike McCoy went out and hired the best possible OC on the market in Ken Whisenhunt...the same guy that will land a HC job of his choice in the coming weeks.

McCoy hired a staff on merit not his friends.

hark one of the people who defended Mike Sherman more than ever and bashes Joe at every chance hates the move. Color me shocked.

And Joe is not a lame duck. Could he be fired next year? Sure, but he ain't a lame duck right now.

Now stop acting like an idiot for 2 seconds when it comes to Philbin and understand that Sherman had to go.

Keep on defending Joe Philbin as a good coach. If you want to head down that road, go ahead. I am sure in a year or so you will be jumping off of that bandwagon.

How about Kyle Shannan? Young guy. Seem to use RG3 the way he should his first year. He did really well in Houston but I believe Kubiak made the playcalls there. It would still be the WCO. Maybe not a bad person to look into.

But, at the same time I wish him well in the future.

Hell, I wish Tannehill well in his future as a backup somewhere or starting for some garbage team like Oakland or Jacksonville. Dosent mean I still want him.

If Sherman was forced out against Philbin's wishes, this will be a disaster. Repeat of the 2011 season, with GM/HC drama and a new offensive system.

Likewise Coach Sherman, if you ever want another shot at the Superbowl, you best stay away from Marvin Lewis, & Dalton. Of course, if you're looking to call signals for a clutch gene QB like Luck who makes an average supporting cast better and doesn't shrink on the biggest stage during crunch time, who can overcome seemingly insurmountable leads instead of bleeding them away...as compared to one who despite marquee skilled offensive support players who disappears with the clock ticking down, then unless you're a fan of blue balls, you best also stay away from Atlanta too. :up:

or I could just do what you do and say he's going to get out-coached every week, move on when I'm wrong and puff out my chest when I'm right. Hell I keep saying the same thing every week like you did, I'll be right eventually like you were.

But since you want to talk about bandwagons Mr. McCoy (or is it Mr. Billick?) I have been rather open as to that Philbin has a lot to work on as a coach. He has to take responsibility for the inept offense just like Sherman did, and so many people want Tannehill to. But to say he has shown encouraging signs in some aspects is bullheaded. He much like everybody else within the organization layed an egg the last 2 weeks of the season. But I, unlike you, will give credit where credit is due and also give flak when flak is due. And I, unlike you, will not bring Mike McCoy into every damn thread.

But you are the same person who bashed Joe for not having the balls to fire Mike Sherman last week. Don't say you didn't because you did. If Joe was to go out and hire the hottest OC commodity there was tomorrow you'd find a way to bash it.

Please what? Mike Sherman helped Joe Philbin's coaching career more than anyone. Without Mike Sherman he is nowhere near the NFL. Joe supposedly had power over his staff...yet he succumbs to ownership? Be a man like Mike Munchack. Instead, Joe fires Sherman. Coward.

What kind loyalty will Philbin have after this from other coaches and players? He showed NONE to Sherman, why should Philbin get any in return?

Who will want to work for lame duck in Philbin?

Joe should have stood up for Mike Sherman.

What are you talking about, he likely discussed his options with Sherman. It was no surprise to him. He just got the old guy two years on the payroll with loyalty.
