I personally would love to see this guy make the Dolphins this year. Its not like its not possible. We have Daniels, Allen, and Allen who are pretty much safe. After that I would say its Goodman, Lehan, and Mitchell fighting it out for the #4 and #5 spot on our roster. Goodman has a strong chance, but Lehan has not preformed well at all last year. Mitchell on the other hand is playing pretty good in NFL Europe right now.

I will say this though. Like I said in the P.K. Sam discussion, just because you are doing good in Europe does not mean you will do the same in the NFL. But like Sam, I have a good feeling about this kid too.

He has respectable size for a young cornerback, and has pretty good speed, running a 4.36 40 time and he showed off both his speed and his catching ability returning an 81 yard interception a couple weeks ago.

I dont know how you guys feel about him, but I really like him.

PS: He also wears my favorite number:wink:

I love him. I hope he beats out Lehan (nothing against Lehan. I liked some of the plays he made. Especially that Monday Night hit right before Zach Thomas's).

I remember Lehan getting burned by the Jets that basically killed our chances of winning. But Mitchel seems like he good be good, although he seems very injury prone. I like the Pope guy that's supposedly super fast.

One of the things Saban said about him was he was very fast and if healthy would be a steal. He hasn't been healthy so who is to say. I think it is very tough to play in NFL europe and then without much of a break contribute in the NFL. You need to give your body a break. I hope he surprises - this team finally needs some breaks - some low end guys that step up and can become very good starting material. Hasn't happened often here - lately it seems only out of necessity not because they are so talented.

Yes that was one downside of him is that he has been injured

Yes, Geoff Pope is plenty fast. I have seen some of the highlights of mini-camp/OCS practice sessions where someone was always there breaking up passes. But I didn't recognize the number. When I looked it up, it was Pope making all the pass defenses. He was amazingly quick. Very impressive.

yes im one of Geoff Popes fans also..and hopefully he makes our squad since we are kinda thin at the position behind Allen, Allen, Daniels and Goodman if hes healthy

All I remember about Lehan is that he was a solid ST's guy but dropped some balls that hit him right in the chest in our last game vs. Indy. If he makes our squad it should be as the 5th CB who is mainly a ST's guy and an emergency CB unless he shows some improvement in our secondary's new defense. With Goodman fighting injuries there would be a good chance our 5th CB may see some time in dime packages atleast so hopefully a guy like Mitchell or Pope will surprise and make the team. Also this guy Derrick Johnson, the CB we picked up off waivers may compete for a CB spot. So many teams like the Colts and Pats seem to find solid players who fit their scheme and are not bigname guys (sometimes they are UNDFA's) until they play solid for a few seasons and then are over-paid by other teams in FA. I mean guys like Jason David, Nick Harper, and others whom I can't even name come in and start on a Super Bowl winning team; now we need some of our relatively unknown players to make some plays for us. Now that the secondary scheme is less complex maybe a guy like Lehan won't make so many mistakes and play solid football for the Phins when called upon. And make the INT when it hits him in the numbers!

daniels could be replaced if he dont get his poo together:lol:

Daniels is not a lock ... he must be healthy, and he must play at least up to '05 posture

I certainly hope he does, but it is no guarantee

I don't think his knee healed to 100%.

I've been recording the Galaxy games and watching the plays involving him over and over again.

It looks like he has lost his closing speed. If the receiver gets by him he can't catch up.

In yesterday's game he should have had a pass defensed but it looked like he tried going up to bat down the pass but his knee was just to weak. He only got like a foot off the ground and missed the ball and the WR caught it for a large gain.

I had such high hopes for this guy, it's really disappointing.

His tackling hasn't suffered, he is one of the best open feild tacklers I've seen. He really locks on.
