Shockey as good as gone?

You dont drop a top 5 player at any position just because you won some games after he was injured.

His backup is NOT as good as him. The giants would be dumb to trade him.

That said, with the exception of a top franchise QB, all players are trade bait given a team is dumb enough to give up the house for one guy.
 
His backup may not be as talented as him but his backup does the role that the Giants want in that position and has been very solid doing so. Shockey wants the Giants to change his role, which is basically changing their offense for him.

They don't need him, and you know, Shockey is a pretty overrated tight end. Can look great at times, but can dissapoint you at times with his stone hands.

He has all the talent in the world to be the best tight end, but he just doesn't want to be.
 
It's been said before in the Shockey argument, it's nice to have a top 5 TE but when was the last time a team with a top 5 TE won the Super Bowl ? It's just not that necessary and obviously the Giants were able to get it down without him so how "vital" is he to the team ?

Thats the key, why listen to his constant moaning and complaing till 2011, when it affects the atmosphere in the dressing room.

Especially when you have a solid catching and blocking TE in Boss already and also when you can get another player or draft picks in a trade
 
He's a good receiving TE but being injured so much doesn't help his case much when it comes to his value to the team. I kind of think the Giants would be foolish not to trade Shockey if they can get good value for him.
