Jeremy Shockey is at it again.

New York's volatile tight end criticized coach Tom Coughlin after the Giants fell behind by 35 points early before losing to Seattle 42-30 on Sunday.
"We got outplayed, and outcoached. Write that down," Shockey said.

Asked what he meant by outcoached, Shockey said, "You saw the game."
It was reminiscent of comments made by running back Tiki Barber after the Giants' wild-card game loss to Carolina last season. Barber said after the game that the Giants were outcoached by Carolina's John Fox, a former Giants defensive coordinator.

Coughlin was practically shouting from a podium after the game. Sweat was running down his face at the thought of Eli Manning's two first-quarter interceptions, a lost fumble and a 35-0 first-half hole that was the largest in New York's 82-year history.

"We just gave the game away," Coughlin said. "A team that does nothing but preach and talk about turnovers, we turn it over like nothing matters, nothing counts. It cost us the game."

"We started the game and lost our composure again up front and had a couple of foolish penalties ... We had what we thought was a good game plan together. And obviously we didn't execute."

Shockey, who had four catches for 58 yards, stewed in the locker room by himself before being told of Coughlin's comments.

"They were in different defenses than we thought they were going to be in. They did different things that we haven't seen," he said. "You can make adjustments all you want, but when they do new things and they switch things up, you really can't do anything."

Shockey pointed out how well Manning played on New York's final scoring drive. Manning exclusively used the no-huddle offense to move 94 yards, a drive that ended with his 9-yard touchdown to David Tyree.

It amazes me how Coughlin is supposed to be such a strict coach, but can't keep his players mouths shut.

Coughlin isnt a good coach....simple as that...he says all the right things but he cant get it through to anyone, and obviously he cant gameplan or get the players to believe in the gameplan

I'm sure that was a fun plane ride home.

Shockey is nothing but a baby. He has the heart of a champion but he's always crying about something. And Burress is another one, always giving up on plays and showing up his quarterback, at least Shockey gives 100%. I bet one of those guys will be gone at season's end...and my money is with Burress getting the ax.

it'd be easier just to get rid of coughlin....and if they miss the playoffs, i could see that happening easily. then they hire someone like jeff fisher, and they're back in business.

Remember even Tiki, who has never been a headcase or coachkiller, said the Giants were badly outcoached in the playoffs last year. Couglin treats his players like crap, when they are winning they will put up with it, when they start losing he gets thrown under the bus. I think the managment of the team felt like Fassel was too much of a players coach and wanted a diciplinarian like Coughlin there, but the guy just isnt going to last. I mean fining Strahan for being 5 mins early instead of 10mins early? Remember that crap? Hes old school to the point of being a idiot. You dont fine Strahan to make a point. If they lose a few more games he wont last the season.

You can say goodbye to Coughlin after the season.

Shockey contrite day after criticizing Coughlin, staff

A seemingly contrite Jeremy Shockey said Monday that his emotions got the best of him when he ripped Tom Coughlin and his New York Giants staff for being outcoached in a blowout loss to the Seahawks in Seattle.

Coughlin talked with his Pro Bowl tight end and the team on Monday, but he would not discuss either what was said or "decided." He conceded he was surprised and extremely disappointed by something that should not be done by anyone, especially when his door is always open to any player.

"It's between the player and I," Coughlin said less than 24 hours after his defending NFC East champions fell to 1-2 heading into the bye week.

What is obvious is that there is now a rift and concern on a team that thought it was capable of going to the Super Bowl this year.

Shockey didn't apologize on Monday for his post-game comments, which were the second attack on the coaching staff in four games. Running back Tiki Barber also criticized Coughlin and company after the Giants were embarrassed 23-0 by Carolina in the opening round of the playoffs last season.

"I'm very team-oriented and I do let my emotions get to me," Shockey said in a locker room that had a playoff feel, with almost three times as many members of the media on hand to catch the aftermath of his motor-mouth meltdown.

"It's the competitive nature of me," Shockey added. "I don't like to lose. I don't like to lose at anything. The way we played as a team, it's not this team and it's not this organization."
