Shockey to visit Panthers tomorrow

What is with all the love for Shockey on this site? He is washed up. Granted he may make a decent number 2 tight end at this point but wouldn't you like to add a number 1 and move Fasano to that number 2 spot. I was hoping he would not be signed here so we could look to actually upgrade tight end and not just sign a guy that may play half a season.

Maybe the Fins will wait until after the draft before adding a TE. In light of New England's success with 2 rookie TE's last year, it would not surprise me to see the Fins and other teams following their lead. With the type of offense that Miami runs, it is crucial to have TE's that are the complete package of blocking and receiving.
A stud TE could really help this team and specifically Henne or whomever is QB'ing this team by providing a reliable target over the middle.
If Shockey is still available then, and the Fins have not drafted one, both sides will work it out.

on this offense shockey would get the ball more IMO
he would be the safety valve henne would look to when the pocket breaks down

Pass on Shockey, rather go after Zach Miller or Kevin Boss IMO.

Lost all respect for Shockey when they showed him up in the Executive Suite during the Super Bowl knocking back brews

Not saying he cant but I mean, damn cmon...Super Bowl, should be in the side lines with your boys, hyping them up, cheering. Not relaxing in the suite getting drunk.
