In the hoopla of all the hype about the big win, let's not forget that we shot ourselves in the foot SEVERAL times with stupid penalties Sunday. We were very fortunate to be able to overcome those mistakes. That kind of thing will not be the norm. Especially against some of the tougher, more disciplined teams in our division.

I agree. We don't know how tough the Broncos really are, either. I think Saban has the right idea...relish the win for a day, and then get focused on the large number of issues this team still has to resolve before next Sunday.

ur askin these guys to be humble?! its our first blowout win in a while i think the football gods will accept a couple extra days of celebration

i don't think after a big win most fans that suffered the season you guys did last year will be looking at the 11 penalties(5 false starts in the first half that started a nice chorus of boos) and 3 turn overs are not going to be mentioned

You better believe Saban will mention them. Hard.

I bet Saban rides them hard this week over the penilties. During the season there is no extra couple of days to celebrate, not by the players and staff.
I remember one of the things that players said about Shula was after a win blowout or a close they got chewed out for their mistakes.

The play of the OL needs improvement as well as these idiot penalties...The OL could not open holes for the RBs until late in the game. The pass protection was decent for the most part...

But you're right, we're not going to beat the better teams (Jills, Jests, Patsies) with those kind of mistakes...

and our reality check comes this Sunday.

i remeber after our kotite years and parcells came in and we crushed the seahawks opening day -- such a rush to suck one year and have instant hope the next

Chambers had a key drop. He should have had a TD pass. That bothers me a llitte along with the stepping out of bounds. These are the plays he needs to make to be on another level.

Jason taylor had those penalties in bad situations but we overcame both, luckily.

Those are the 2 things I think about negatively from yesterdays game. The list of things that make me feel good is a lot longer.

There's no reason not to feel good. It was a very sound win that had amazing intensity and determination behind it. It's always good to keep things in perspective, though. This team still has some proving to do and is still making lots of mistakes. The fans should enjoy this win all week and support the team next week, but the players need to re-group quickly and starting planning for the Jets.

As bad as things have been for us lately - isn't it kinda amazing that our record over the past 7 regular season games is 4-3! It's possible to make a case for us to finish 10-6. I'm not predicting we will but before yesterday I couldn't have concieved it. And yes, we definitely need to clean up our performance - but it's very encouraging to have all those penalties (broncos had more penalty yards) and turnovers (same as Broncos) and still win going away. Talent and scheme go a long way.
