NEWSFLASH -----............. YOU CAN'T DRAFT 22 PLAYERS IN THE DRAFT..................
every 3 post is get a player in the draft - c'mon you can't get every player in the NFL draft. Some holes you fill with proven Vets. I have yet to make my mind up on the Hotel but I for sure don't want to wast (in this draft at least) a pick on a o-linemen. We have so many problems that I'd rather fill the oline need with the crafty vet.

I keep forgetting this but since we aren't going to be able to sign every FA, we need to look at the numbers for starters.

pretend that you really are Ireland and not a fan with a man-crush on a CB or a TE

absolute needs(we cut/traded these guys, no discernable replacement)
RT, LG, TE, WR, 1 LB

need to sign own FA
RG, CB

high need(have personnel but are sorely lacking)
NT, QB(don't take offense we need a vet), 1 DE, 1 LB

so ballpark we might need to plan for 8-11 new starters

to me even 8 sounds like a huge task, let's hope that we can sign at least 3 FA's who can start for us
 
I'm not worried about it. Let me explain. Bill came in to the Pats and re-established that franchise. Bill then went to the Jets and established them as a threat. He then went to the Cowboys and made them what they were last year. One thing all of them had in common is they sucked. The other thing they had in common is they were good in 2 offseasons and made drastic improvements with Bill in his 1st year. We have some of the best talent evaluaters the NFL has ever seen and the best team builder in charge. Set back and enjoy.

you dont think a DT or DE is an absolute need... I sure as hell do... As I stated in another thread, we were dead last in the league in rushing defense. Without fixing the DL we will again be close to last in rushing defense in 08. That being said, with teams running the ball on us at will, it wont matter who we pick with your all offense absolute need category(as you stated above), because they wont be seeing the field at all in 08 when offenses have 12 play, 8 minute drives against us.

DT or DE is the absolute biggest need for this team and would be the smarest position to fill with the highest draft pick we have

don't get caught up in the qualifications, you are correct but I was strictly trying to do a numbers analysis.

we did cut our NT so that should be an absolute

I waffled on that becuase we have Solail and NT's are hard to find

the title is "Short-term starters" and the theme is we can't build a playoff-team in one off-season

Solail sucked last year, but this just in "We went 1-15!!!!"

I seriously doubt Traylor would have came back in 08 anyways. Hopefully Solial steps it up

Thats your opinion but history disagrees with you. Call me crazy but until Bill don't build a loser franchise into a playoff contender in 2 years I will take history's side.

They are not a critical need. We can field a starting DL.

4-3 Roth Holliday Wright JT
3-4 Roth Wright/Solai Holliday (JT - OLB)

We cannot fill our RT position. That is critical.

I am talking aboot fielding a team for '08, not building a playoff team in 2-3 years

I contend that he has never come to a cupboard that was this bare

we might have to start 5 rookies, but maybe I shouldn't be scared just because the "fail-forward" regime couldn't coach up worth a damn.

funny, if we play 3-4 it will mean that all the "fit the system to the players" talk was a load of BS and cutting zach was the first shovel full
