Dion Jordan's future is unclear, even if he does get reinstated by the NFL.
(Jim Rassol / Sun Sentinel)

Miami Dolphins have gone out of their way to let the NFL world -- and the team's fan base -- know they aren't counting on Dion Jordan.

While the team would welcome the suspended hybrid linebacker back to the team, Dolphins executives and coaches have made it clear they have no plans for Jordan and won't create any until he's reinstated from his year-long NFL suspension.
Jordan, the third overall pick in the 2013 draft, has let the organization and his teammates down so many times that there's valid reason for their skepticism.
Despite being eligible to apply for reinstatement in late April, Jordan didn't begin the process until June, which sources say raised a number of red flags inside the organization.
Has Jordan taken care of himself physically and mentally while banished from the NFL for a full season?
Is Jordan in football shape, and is he focused and clean?
And, most importantly, is Jordan's heart in the game? Is he playing football for the right reasons, and can he mentally handle the ups and downs that come with professional sports?

My uneducated guess is that if he is reinstated they should and will pay it (unless there is a way to avoid paying it and keep him anyway).

At this point you could burn the money and it would be more productive than Jordan. Sad we are even in this position, should have moved on a long time ago.

Whats the way out ? Cut him, trade him...who knows ?

Can we make him take a pay cut on his rookie contract? Is there a rule against it?

You could probably cut him before that bonus kicks in then resign him if/when he clears wavers.

Shake him down just like they did to Wake, Misi, Jordan Cameron, etc....and those guys are starters that have been here working, sweating, bleeding.

IMO people trying to talk him up like he's been working hard are full of ****.

I think he's been sitting around all this time doing nothing.

Doesn't matter in a sense. If he's reinstated, he'll show up. If he's out of shape, it's over. If he's in shape, he has to rework his contract . . . unless he looks like Von Miller. I'm still pessimistic, but it costs nothing.

Sounds like a good plan to me. If he's not already gotten his act together and prepared as an athlete under the circumstances, he's hopeless.

Rookie contracts for draft choices can't be renegotiated or changed in any way until the regular season finale of the contracts third year. Undrafted free agents must wait until their conclusion of the regular season of their second season to amend a contract (sec 3, k, i-iii), 28).

Maybe Jordan suspension changes things but technically this would be Dion's third season and his contract cannot be renegotiated.

You are saying the person who trained/trains Marshawn Lynch, Marcus Peters, Justin Tuck and Aldon Smith would put his reputation on the line for Dion Jordan?

It's silly to have an opinion one way or the other. You've never even met the guy.
