Is worth risking further injury for Jason Taylor to continue to play on his injured foot or should he miss games until it heals? Any thoughts?

When I saw the Thread header "Should Jason Taylor" I thought maybe you were going to say -convert to safety:lol:

that's a really tough injury. a lot of basketball players get it and it really messes them up for a while. i think he should sit until it heals, but i'm sure he will play. it all depends whether or not doctors tell him it could keep happening. apparently, once it's torn, it heals more easily. taylor's is torn. i'm not sure how that works, but there was an article about it in one of the miami papers recently.

If JT wants to play then I say let him play. He seems to know how far he can push himself because the guy rarely gets injured.

That is a damn painful injury, one of the WR's on my team had it a couple of years ago, and he had to have the muscle glued back to his foot or something crazy like that. I dont see him playing through it, he might be more of a liability, I'm surprised he can even walk.

Carter is out too, maybe that means Holliday, Bowens and Roth at end and we can finally see Manny Wright at DT, thoughts?

I heard playing won't risk permanent injury and that it will probably bother him thru the season anyway. If true, he should just play as long as he can stand it and be productive.

taylor is a tough SOB he will play if he can, on the other hand i think i read somewhere that his injury will require surgery after the season is over and he has to play through this

You can't really make it worse.
What happens is when you get up after sitting down it really hurts the most and it hurts trying to accelerate and so on.
It's going to hurt him through the season no matter what because you have to give it rest, some players go out for the year with Plantar Fascitis it just depends on the person and what happens.
I'm not really that knowledgable on the subject but that is what i've gathered about it, maybe someone who knows more on the subject could clear everything up for us.

It depends on the severity.... sometimes you can get away with cortizone shots.... a lot of times, it requires surgery. After surgery, he'd have to stay off his feet for a while (I think 4-6 weeks).
He's probably hoping that he can make it through the season with the shots, then have the surgery after the season is over... however, it may escalate to thepoint where the shots don't do much anymore, and he'd have to get the surgery anyway...

That doesn't sound like too bad a lineup to me! Carter has never missed a game though, that would be disappointing. The reason I liked him so much was the toughness.

JT should do what he can, and that's what he'll do. I think if we lose three or four more games we'll see him go out for the surgery.

On another note, I love JT and his skills but I didn't understand all the hype with JT in the offseason.... Zach is the leader of this defense and always has been and I had faith that he'd rise to the occassion of a new challenge ahd be successful. Point being that I thought this would be Zach's year and if he remains healthy through the season I think he'll prove that to everyone... :)

JT has nothing to prove, he should sit out and let that thing heal up.
