We have a lot of pieces to make a run. Well except O-line. Hopefully it gels. Matt Flynn is an unrestricted free agent in 2012. If we don't get a Jones or Barkley in the draft...Guessing we don't get Luck we should pursuit Flynn. Heck he might be a better option than some of the draft qb's.

His performance wasn't the greatest against the Pats as there was a lot of easy passes. How ever he knows how to scan the field, he has accuracy and hes still pretty young. Overall he did quite good that game for his first start. As I recall he didnt know he was starting until that Wednesday before Sunday. Lots of potential and he has experience under a regime who have developed very good quarterbacks.

God i hope not. . . . If our Quarterback is not Chad Henne (which it wont be barring some crazy insane improvement on his part) then its time to actually go get a QB in the early part of the first round. . . even if we have to trade up to do so.

NO... in recent post-Favre/Warner history, how many unproven backups have actually gone on to be successful? And don't say Cassell since a) the verdict's still out on him and b) he started 15 games to somewhat prove himself. Everyone thinks they're gonna catch "Matt Schaub Lightning In A Bottle" (who FWIW was a 3rd round pick, not a 7th)

Rob (Finatic) just tweeted that Flynn is supposedly on the trade block for a 1st or 2nd. Not sure of his source, but I'm sure he'll be around shortly.

I don't care who we sign on the open market as long as we are not assuming that they are going to be a high caliber QB and as long as their acquisition doesn't divert the team's attention from drafting a QB in round 1.

I don't doubt it. I'm sure any team would be excited to deal their backup QB who has very little game experience for a first or second round pick.

not every owner is as clueless as the bidwells.. Hopefully that includes ross. Trading unproven qbs for "the farm" will not become the new paradigm for doing business just because of one set of idiots.

I wasn't criticizing Cardinal's ownership. Kevin Kolb is not a fully proven talent but what he has shown in regular season performances is 5 times that of what Flynn has shown. He was a highly rated QB coming out of college and his NFL game experience, while not highly extensive, was in line with what his perceived high talent level should have. He was worth a big trade to get him because he is ten times more ready to start than any QB picked up in the draft would be, and thats what a team that needed to sign Larry Fitzgerald long term needed.

I just don't have any confidence that the front office would pick a QB in the first round. Ireland could have drafted a QB this year and chose not to.

who is going to trade a first round pick for backup QB with 1 career start.. 4 years in the league a 7th rounder.... on the last year of his rookie contract......

I saw a lot of his college games and all he did was win football games. Great size and arm.

But IMO it will be a long time before we trade anything for a QB again.

yea, lets trade a 1st round pick for a guy who was drafted in the 7th round just because he had a really good game against the patriots.

I much rather us draft a QB in the first round and let him become the franchise QB if Henne doesn't work out.

If Miami misses the playoffs and end up with a top 15 pick, which is likely, then they better trade up for Barkely or L.Jones. I have a feeling that Miami will overachieve and have a lower pick like 20 or something and miss out on a QB. lol who am I kidding? It's impossible to overachieve with Henne. But seriously Miami always seem to suck during weak draft years.

Both times we've drafted near the top there have been QB's who have ultimately ended up pretty good. Aaron Rodgers had been pegged for number one overall well before the draft but Alex Smith became the flavor of the week and the 49ers went with him.

I actually think it may have been our downfall in 2004 that we obviously needed a running back and there were 3 very highly touted runners that year. Even most of us here were very fixated on the running backs and I don't remember seeing too many "should have taken a QB" threads. But that was when Feeley was still supposed to be the QB of the future, and had actually finished the season somewhat respectably, and it seemed as if Saban not pulling in a QB meant he was ok with Feeley, when that was from from the case.
