Would it make sense to bring FA guard Tomlinson since hes familiar with the offense? Would also think thatll help teach the other linemen. The only other FA would be Mostert but i think a RB will come from somewhere else or the draft.

Terron Armstead has missed nearly 40% of regular season games since he came into the league. He'll be 31 by the time he suits up and and he'll likely command roughly 10% of our entire cap space.

Laken Tomlinson has missed one regular season game in 7 seasons. He knows the scheme and has flourished in it. He only turned 30 five days ago, would likely cost less than half as much as Armstead and could be the vet leader on the OL group that we badly needed this year.

A combination of Eich at LT, Tomlinson at LG would outperform Armstead / Eich at LT, Jackson at LG.

A big no to Armstead from me. A big YES to Tomlinson from me.

I have been in favor of bringing in one sure OL starter, and one depth guy/guy to challenge for a spot.
Tomlinson sounds EXACTLY like the type of guy to bring in for depth/to challenge; if I knew him better, I'd argue maybe to be a starter. I just don't know enough about him to go that far.
I was thinking sure fire starter at tackle.

Please no to Armstead, he is too old and wants too much $$. He seems to be injured half the time. OL is a collective unit and should play that way. Get a solid center and build out from there. McDaniel's offense uses athletic guards who pull for that beast Running Game, we need to find some of those if we are hoping Tua can succeed.

How much do you need to know about a 7 year consistent starting vet from a team that runs the ball as well as anyone in the NFL to know he could start on our OL?

We could sign a lamppost and it could beat out 3 starters on last year's Dolphins OL.

 Spot on, well said.

When u break it down like that its a EASY DECISION.
Tomlinson IT IS

Thats what im saying you need a good FA Tackle
You need a good, dependable tackle.

Armstead has never been dependable in his entire career. In fact, he's proved over and over you cannot depend on him. He's a great player that a team will overpay ignoring his obvious injury issues. Half the money you pay Armstead is effectively dead cap when he's not on the field.

I hope we're not that team.

I guess I would like to know how much it would cost to sign him as a free agent to play guard.
We seem to struggle to draft tackles, so I guess I would like to know how much it would cost to sign a tackle, THEN see what it would cost to add Tomlinson.
7 year consistent starter, guess that puts him around age 30. I would like to know what length deal he would like.
I would like to know if any of our current pieces that McDaniel has claimed are, "pieces he can work with" would be displaced by signing Tomlinson.
If he's an upgrade, then that's fine. But if he upgrades, say, Hunt(for example) and McDaniel likes Hunt, would that cause either Hunt or Tomlinson to switch to left guard?
I guess these are some of the things I'd like to know. To answer your question.
