I would love to see Ronnie play this weekend, and have a huge game that puts him over 1,000 yards. What I wouldn't want to see is Ronnie play and get hurt. IMO ROTY is not as important as protecting our franchise RB. If Ronnie is not 100% then I say play Ricky. This is the reason that we have two premiere RBs. Either one of these guys is capable of carrying the full load, so why risk further injury to Ronnie. Ronnie has nothing to prove, next year he will take the AFC by storm. It would be great to have Ricky and Ronnie both go for 1,000 yards next year.

I think they both could get a 1000 yards next year. It could happen. With a QB that the defense would be scared of it truely could happen.

I say rest Ronnie if he is not feeling around 90%.
I want to see Ricky have a good game and boost his value even more so that if we have a chance to get our franchise QB, Ricky is worth a lot.
I also just wanna see Ricky for a full game again. (No I don't want to trade Ricky, the only way I would want to give him up is for a franchise QB)

Trade RW? One of the cheapest players on our roster? Yet one of the most productive?

For a franchise QB? Like who? An unproven rookie? Another bench warming clipboard carrying question mark?

You kids know nothing about the BUSINESS of NFL.

RW has the highest price/performance ratio on the phins and probably the top 5 in the league right now.

Trade RW...removed.

Good post. There's point in risking a bigger injury by having him play this week against NE. Sure, I would've loved to see him get 1,000 yards this season, but not at the risk of injury...especially in the cold of New England. I'd say if he's nowhere near 100%, then we rest him for next season and have him sit out. This will have him fresh for next season without any injuries, barring any setbacks in camp. With one season under his belt, Ronnie definitely would be primed to have a great season in 2006.

Also, as you've stated, this is EXACTLY the reason why we TWO very skilled running backs on our team. New England's rush defense is strong, but I still think Ricky could have a decent day against the Patriots. If we get him going, it'll open up the passing game and enable us to go downfield a bit more. New Englands pass D is suspect. Ricky has more experience and would match up better against NE's D. Plus, after last game, I think he's earned a start in the last game of the seaon. It'll give him another chance to increase his value (in the event we DO decide to trade him, which I'm against, BTW), this time against a division rival on the road.

Take it easy. No need to name call, especially on a day like this. Where's the holiday spirit?? :confused2 That was very unnecessary....and also against TOS, btw. Everyone's entitled to his/her own opinion.

I would not want to trade Ricky either, but under the correct circumstances it would not be out of the question.

A person is not an idiot for having an opinion about Ricky or the possibility of trading Ricky.

It'll be like the Larry and Mercury days. Yeah....

Please, you wouldn't trade a 28 year old running back who's taken the most pounding in the NFL apart from Eddie George for a FRANCHISE QB which we haven't had since Dan Marino.

You, my friend are the person who knows nothing of the business of the NFL.

It's too bad Ronnie can't play, I heard we placed him on IR due to his injuries

Haven't heard the IR...

...but if he's healthy, he plays. This is football. If you're scared of getting hurt, you should become a coach. Saban's not the kinda of coach who's going to let a player become the pet simply because he's going to be good in the future. Don't you all think that a game against a good team on the road in the cold weather would be a good experience for him, or would you rather him experience that for the first time next season when the game actually matters?

In the post game interview Saban said that Ronnie not playing this week gives him a better chance of playing against the Patriots. If Ronnie's not ready Saban should have no hesitations starting Ricky. Either way the Patriots have to prepare for a viscous running attack.

Link? You can't make such a bold statement like that one without a link. Why would we put him on IR for one game?

We placed him on IR with one game to go when his injuries weren't all that significant? I think you were either hearing things, dreaming, or whoever you heard that from had no idea what they were talking about.

If Ronnie were like 20-30 yards from 1000 yds, maybe you stick him in until he gets it. Even at 100%, it's doubtful he'd get it with what he needs now, so if he's not healthy, take advantage of RW and rest the franchise back.
