In know way do i know how t. daniels ankle is doing. However, nobody expected him to be out this long. He is making progress now but he's still questionable. We really need him back there at CB. But it doesn't sound like he's going to be back 100% or really all that close to it. Playing him, not fully recoverd, to me would be a sign of desperation to get some experiance back in there at the cost of the player being injured more or not fully recovered. I'm all for sitting him for another wk or until he's fully recovered. Last thing we need is another C. Portis scenerio where he comes back for a game, regresses and than sits the next.

Saban and the team's doctors know what to do better than we do, sta
rting because they are doctors and profesionalists and ending with that they know his status and capabilities better than us...

So, what I can tell you is, dont worry, he is in good hands...

...Saban's hands

you dont want anyone back there limping with the speed of the bills recievers

If the doctors say hes good to go.... hes good to go.... Nobody knows better than daniels.... And i hope he doesnt put the team at risk for wanting to play.

If Daniels can perform he should be in the lineup. He's unfortunately our best cover corner. Even at half strength he'd still be better than Lehan.

Problem is though that we have ultra competitive guys, coaches that want to win so sometimes they push to get themselves/ the player on to the field instead of letting them heal. Trusting in the team and its doctors is not always smart as there can be conflicting interests and it doesn't always lead towards the player.

He'll play if he's ready. It doesn't seem like we're pushing him too hard and if the ankle is strong enough for him to contribute, he'll be out there. If its not, I don't see us letting him limp after Lee Evans for 4 quarters. That would be a big mistake imo.

Ankle sprains can be a tricky thing. Sometimes players play with them, but struggle with them all year long.

I'd agree that the Phin staff knows his status best, and I doubt Saban would put him out there if he wasn't playing better than the other corners.

I just don't want to rush him back and have this be one of those season long nuisance injuries.

man I really agree with you on that!! Lehan to me isnt worth anything other than depth. I don't know much about him, but I expect when a guy is in the game that he will perform the way an NFL player should

We also cant forget Daniels is young!! Even if for some reason he doesnt get better any time soon, we dont want to force him back in and kill a future star on this team. I think he is a great young player and we need him back WHEN he is ready to physically perform the way he should

The doctors only know so much and only have so much control of the situation. I'll use the high ankle sprain that Booker had his last year in Chicago and a similar one Owens had in 1999 with the Niners as an example. Both players tried to get back on the field ASAP, but it didn't work. They had to shut it down for a period of weeks in order to be able to come back and be effective later in the season. The doctors likely told both of them they should take it slow, but that isn't in any NFL player's vocabulary. Daniels might be fine if he plays and might play like a Pro Bowler the whole rest of the year. It might turn out to be one of those lingering things, though. You never quite know -- it's just a matter of taking as smart a gamble as you can.
