Should the Miami Dolphins draft a QB?

The Jordan Rodgers signing probably took care of that.

I think that guy might be worth something down the road. He WON at VANDERBILT.
Dude - if his name was Roger Jordan you wouldn't notice him. He is effectively another arm in camp. Don't get your hopes up about being an unpolished diamond. He's just a camp arm and he has a chance to show what he can do. This was probably just a favor by Joe to Aaron.

I subscribe to the Ron Wolf philosophy of drafting a QB every year. Eventually you'll strike gold.

And yes Jordan Rodgers is just an extra arm for camp. Nothing more.

This is a make-or-break year for Tannehill. He has 2 full seasons under his belt so it's time he takes a huge step forward and shows us he can be the franchise.

i guess i should be happy that this front office has been smart enough not to invest resources in the qb position scouting wise...

There is speculation that Zach Mettenburger will drop because he is coming back after injury. If he's still on the board in round 3, does he appeal? He is physically built for the position and playing for LSU in the SEC, he has faced a lot of quality Defences. If he drops too far does he become a player to consider?

Ryan Tannehill is the undisputed long term starter for this team, but we do need a viable #2 QB. Matt Moore is too expensive and old beyond this year, and unless Pat Devlin shows us he can win some games in the preseason, we need to have a a viable QB heading into 2015....and I'm not talking about some developmental long shot 7th rounder that might be able to play in 2018.

I was on board for drafting someone like Aaron Murray or Mettemberger late in the draft. They could have been a good backup and potentially push RT or replace him if he doesn't end up being the guy. Now, with Jordan Rogers taking over as the 3rd qb(He will never be a starter) I don't see any point in drafting a qb. Tannehill's third year we will live and die with Tannehill at least this year

I see the opinion that teams should keep drafting QBs until they are "sure" they have the guy, a lot. So I wondered, how many of the current starters in the league were acquired that way. How many were drafted by a team with a developing or established starter (as opposed to a team whose QB situation is a mess or a QB at the end of their career) and were picked as an insurance policy of sorts.

I can find one definite - Tom Brady (he almost doesn't count because even NE didn't know what they had drafted).

A couple could be looked at that way - Schaub (although he was originally drafted by Atlanta and was never really considered a choice to start for them), Foles (interestingly Vick was also the starter when he was drafted and Vick is very late in his career).

Drafting an "insurance policy" at QB in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round just doesn't happen. Teams stick with their QB until they decide he is not the answer.

Yes we should draft a QB... but not in this years draft. Unless we want another slightly above average qb, but we already have one of those.

What has Tannehill done so far that makes you believe he is going to be a FRANCHISE QB?? Are some of you people afraid another QB would beat him out for the starters job??!!

It happens quite a bit actually.....Kirk Cousins, Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Mallet, Brock Osweiler, Landry Jones, ect. All guys who were drafted in mid-rounds by teams with the intention of using them as a back up. And those are just the guys in the last few years.
